AN ANIMATED ADVENTURE BASED ON A TRUE STORY
Featuring The Voices Of Brad Garrett And Jeff Foxworthy In The Family-Friendly Tale Available On Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD And Digital HD February 3
Snow days = movies in our house. How about you? We love to wear our comfy pajamas and snuggle up until tons of blankets on the couch, watching some of our favorite movies, as well as new ones. And, it seems like every day, I am getting a couple new movies to review. So, we have been using snow days to watch all the movies, and enjoy cuddle time together.
Recently, I was sent "The Aviators" and was surprised at how much I liked this movie. Unlike most other animated movies we watch with the girls, this one is based on a real life story -- about a group of pigeons used by the military in WWI to send messages between troops. You really don't think of pigeons as smart birds, but after watching this movie, it makes you think twice.
I can see older children really getting into this movie and wanting to learn more about these carrier pigeons, who played a crucial role in delivering important messages between army troops. While my girls enjoyed the movie, there were a few scenes that dealt with the birds being shot at and scenes of war that made my youngest turn away or ask why they were shooting at the birds. Other than these few scenes, this movie is highly entertaining for kids and families to enjoy, time and again.

"An animated story of heroism, bravery and friendship, Brad Garrett (Finding Nemo, Ratatouille) and Jeff Foxworthy (Smurfs, Fox & The Hound) headline the family-friendly, high-flying tale, The Aviators, arriving on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital HD February 3 from VIVA Pictures and Cinedigm (NASDAQ: CIDM). Directed by famed animator Miquel Pujol, the unforgettable adventure features the original song “We’re Fighting For Survival,” performed by Foxworthy.
Based on a true story set during World War I, The Aviators follows the adventures of a courageous, albeit clumsy, group of pigeons and their sidekick, a resourceful engineer mouse (Foxworthy). When their small farm is turned into a military training post and communications centre for the Allies, the group of unlikely heroes enlists as carrier pigeons and bravely complete airborne missions to assist the soldiers on the battlefield. When given their biggest assignment yet, the team bands together to save the day and soar into history!
