It’s up to WordGirl to find the disappearing dairy and stop Dr. Two Brains even if it means missing her family feast and having to face the consequences.
“Dinner or Consequences, Part 2”
Becky has to rely on an old Botsford tradition – the family trial – to convince her family that she vanished from the feast for a good reason. But when the Energy Monster breaks Dr. Two Brains out of jail and the two head over to the Botsfords to take back a powerful invention, will Becky be able to prove her innocence and transform into WordGirl in time to stop the two super villains?

“Day at the Museum”

When they hear a rumor about a haunted treasure, the team goes on a search – with The Butcher right behind! Can Scoops, Becky, Bob, and Violet find the treasure, evade The Butcher, and do it all in time for Scoops to keep his deadline? "
I was so excited to hear that PBS Kids would be coming out with another Word Girl DVD, as we already own and watch the previous three DVD's from this popular PBS Kids animated series. When I first watched Word Girl with Savannah last year, I wasn't sure what she would think of it. It is a little more advanced for her, but she was captivated by the super hero girl, Word Girl, who saves the day with her superhuman strength, abilities and stellar vocabulary skills.
Each episode of Word Girl introduces young viewers to a new word, incorporates it throughout the episode so that the children can recognize it when they hear it, and have the meaning reinforces. Take for instance this new DVD, words introduced to young children include divulge, deadline, rely and consequences, just to name a few. Now you wouldn't expect little ones to know how to say these big words, let alone know what they mean. But, thanks to this educational animated series, which makes learning new words fun, they pick up these and other words easily.
Even though Word Girl battles evil villains, including Dr. Two Brains in each episode, you don't have to worry about little ones being exposed to graphic fighting scenes. During each confrontation, Word Girl uses her new vocabulary to find and come out on top -- the good guy always wins! :-)
This DVD, which includes 8 fun filled episodes, is only 50 minutes in length, which makes the episodes short enough to keep even the youngest of viewers attention, as well as lets parents choose to show 1-2 episodes at a time, in case they want to limit TV time with their children. However you choose to watch this DVD with your children, just know that they will have a blast learning new words, while developing a love for reading and language development.
