Arriving on March 5 -- Teen Nick Sensation H20: JUST ADD WATER: THE COMPLETE SEASONS 1,2 &3 from Flatiron Film Company! (Review of Season 1 ) & #Giveaway

H2O: Just Add Water - The Complete Series
Synopsis:

"Watch what happens when three normal teenage girls growing up on sun-drenched beaches Down Under stumble upon an ancient cavern that transforms their lives forever in Teen Nick’s #1 rated series H20: JUST ADD WATER.  Sure, they face typical teenage problems, but with an added twist – they’re mermaids with magical powers!  This worldwide phenomenon with over 250MM global viewers (whose U.S. ratings have increased by triple digits in 2012), is set to make a splash this March when Flatiron Film Company, a label of Cinedigm (NASDAQ: CIDM), releases each fan-favorite season in three individual, specially-priced releases.  Each collectible 4-disc set includes 13 episodes from each season, plus bonus cast photos sure to thrill the show’s fanatical fan base.

Emma (Claire Holt), Cleo (Phoebe Tonkin) and Rikki (Cariba Heine) are sixteen-year-old girls growing up on the beautiful beaches of the Gold Coast.  For our heroines, life revolves around clothes, the beach and boys – with school as a minor distraction. When they’re accidentally stranded at sea and land on the mysterious Mako Island, they find themselves exploring the eerie, jungle-covered island before becoming trapped in an ancient cavern beneath a volcano.  As they swim to safety through an underwater channel, the light from a full moon creates a mysterious glow in the water.  After they return to the mainland, however, they discover they’ve undergone a transformation that will change their lives in magical ways.

In H20: JUST ADD WATER: THE COMPLETE SEASON ONE, the girls enlist the help of Cleo's friend, Lewis McCartney (Angus McLaren), who attempts to discover the secret behind their transformations.  When local bad boy Zane Bennett (Burgess Abernethy) is rescued from a sinking boat by Emma, he sees “something” under the water and embarks on a hunt for the mysterious creature lurking out at sea. When new girl Charlotte (Brittany Burnes), crashes the scene in THE COMPLETE SEASON TWO, everything changes -- she’s ambitious, determined, and wants to become a mermaid herself.  And, in THE COMPLETE SEASON THREE, Cleo and Rikki face their last year of high school without Emma, who’s gone overseas and a new girl, Bella (Indiana Evans), is revealed as a mermaid from the sea caves of Ireland.

H2O: JUST ADD WATER is created and produced by Jonathan M. Shiff in association with Nickelodeon®. A new 26-episode “spin-off” series, Secret of Mako Island, will premiere in 2013."

My Thoughts:

When my 11 yr. old niece to comes to visit, I always make a point to have a selection of tween movies for her to watch, as she would rather read a book or listen to her iPod than watch the pre-school films my daughters watch -- or, watch Toy Story 1-3 for the hundredth time. :-)  During her week long stay in December I sat with her and watched one of her favorite Teen Nick shows, H20: JUST ADD WATER.  Having never seen it before, as my daughters are too young to watch this channel, my niece filled me in on the plot of the show.  As I listened to her, I could how I must have talked to my parents years ago when describing my favorite shows.  She was so excited and had to get every little detail in.  And, as I sat down to watch an episode with her, I watched as she sat on the edge of the couch during the entire shoe.

Even though I thought the show was a cheesy, which is based on Aussie mermaids, I could see why tweens/teens would like it, as the 3 teenage girls have magic powers on top of being mermaids.  What I did like was how this show depicts the typical problems a tween/teen may face, including peer pressure, self-image issues, boy issues, what to wear, etc.  Like my daughters who can watch an episode of a show over and over again without getting bored, so can my niece with this Teen Nick series.  When I showed her the Season 1 DVD set I was sent to review, she was ready to have an H20: Just Add Water marathon with me, as this set included 4 DVDs, with all 26 episodes.  She told me it would be a great way for me to get familiar  with Emma, Cleo and Rikki, before watching Season 2 and 3.  I just looked at her and wondered what I got myself into.  :-)  I only was able to watch a few of the episodes with her as the girls got up and needed to be tended to.  But, she was kind enough to fill me in on what I missed.  And, don't get her started about the new 26-episode "spin-off" series, Secret of Mako Island, which will premiere this year.

So, if you have H20: JUST ADD WATER fans in your house, you will want to pick up the Complete Season 1, 2 and 3 DVD sets, which arrive on store shelves on March 5th.  These would make for a great Easter Basket gift idea, for sure!
