Sprout Debuts "The Chica Show" (Review)

"Sprout, the 24-hour preschool channel, debuted “The Chica Show” on Saturday morning, November 24th at 11:30am ET. Starring Chica the Chicken, the popular host from Sprout’s hit The Sunny Side Up Show, and featuring the voice of Mario Lopez, “The Chica Show” is a mix of live action and animation. It follows the adventures of Chica and her cast of family and friends as they explore The Costume Coop, where imagination runs wild!

“The Chica Show,” which promotes social-emotional development through creative play, is Sprout’s latest original program and continues the network’s tradition of bringing quality entertainment to children and their families."

My Thoughts:

We missed the premiere episode on November 24th, as the family was out shopping at local businesses for Shop Small Saturday.  And, I thought my husband had recorded the show, only to find out he thought I was going to do it. Argg.  Luckily, the folks at Sprout sent along a screener of this episode for the girls to watch.  Since receiving the other day, we have seen this episode half a dozen times.  Savannah, like so many other Sprout followers, loves Chica.  Even if she only makes noises and doesn't talk, she brings The Chica Show, as well as the of the segments on Sprout to life.  I remember hearing a few months ago about how Mario Lopez was going to be joining the Sprout channel to lend his voice for a new character. It seems like he is apart of tons of shows, so I wasn't sure how he would be on a network for children.  But, after watching this premiere episode with the girls, I have to say that The Chica Show was entertaining, kept them engaged and will be another favorite Sprout show we will be tuning in to watch.

Did you happen to catch this new show when it premiered?  What did you think of it?  If you missed it like we did, it is definitely worth checking out.

Disclosure: I was sent a screener copy of this new show from the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  The views above are mine and mine alone.
