"THE WORDS, a thought-provoking romantic thriller from CBS Films and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, arrives on Blu-ray™ and DVD December 24th – both with UltraViolet™.  Bradley Cooper (Limitless) stars as Rory Jansen, a young literary hopeful who risks it all to become a success. While on their honeymoon in Paris, Rory and his wife Dora, played by Zoë Saldana (Colombiana), step inside an antique shop where they find a briefcase that will later reveal the key to the career he has always desired... but the find comes with a steep price.  This dramatic story within a story exposes the strong effects that life’s choices can have on us all. The film also stars Jeremy Irons (Margin Call), Dennis Quaid (The Day After Tomorrow), Ben Barnes (The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian), and Olivia Wilde (TRON: Legacy).

The Blu-ray and DVD both come with the Extended Special Edition of the film, featuring an alternate ending, as well as two featurettes: “Unabridged: A Look Behind the Scenes of The Words” provides an
in-depth look at the making of the film; while “A Gentleman’s Agreement” gives a look at how Cooper and the filmmakers found THE WORDS. Exclusive to the Blu-ray are two additional featurettes: “Clay
and Daniella” focuses on the characters of Quaid and Wilde; and “The Young Man and Celia” highlights the characters of Ben Barnes and Nora Arnezeder.

“There’s more than one way to take a life…” and there are no truer words.  Rory Jansen (Bradley Cooper) has achieved his every goal: a loving wife, critical success and a best-selling novel. The only problem, he’s risked everything he values because his success is not entirely his own.  Now, as his conscience starts to haunt him and his past wrongs are revealed, he uncovers the steep price that must be paid, throwing his whole world and relationship into jeopardy.   The consequences may just affect the legacy of himself as well as those closest to him.  Jeremy Irons, Dennis Quaid, Olivia Wilde, Ben Barnes and Zoë Saldana star in this romantic thriller that keeps you guessing until the very end.

THE WORDS is written and directed by Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal (both TRON: Legacy), graduates of the Sundance Screenwriters Lab, produced by Jim Young (Lovelace), Tatiana Kelly (Wristcutters: A Love Story), and Michael Benaroya (Lawless), and executive produced by Cassian Elwes (The Paperboy), Laura Rister (Lawless), Lisa Wilson and Bradley Cooper."

My Thoughts:

Make sure if you are heading out on Christmas Eve to do last minute holiday shopping that you pick up a copy of this movie.  Or, for less stress, pre-order now online and have it delivered in time for the holidays.  I missed this movie when it was in theaters, but after seeing the previews, knew I had to see it once it arrived on DVD/Blu-Ray.  Not only am I a fan of Bradley Cooper from the Hanover movies, but I also love seeing Olivia Wilde, who starred in hit television series, House, as well as the recent release, Butter, in movies.  So, when I received a screener copy the other day, I told my husband I had to start the Christmas gift wrapping, and took this movie into the family room to watch, while I wrapped. :-)  Let's just say that I still have a lot of wrapping left, as this movie was so good, I couldn't help but stop and give my full attention to it.

From start to finish you are enthralled in this dramatic story, which centers around a briefcase Bradley Cooper's character, Rory Jansen finds, and how its contents can change his life forever, while also showing the ripple effects of the choices we make in life.  Rory ends up stealing and publishing another man's work, only to reach the success he longed for.  But, will he be found out, and if so, what will become of his success and path in life?  Truly an intriguing storyline, and the actors in the movie do an amazing job in creating suspense and drama, which keeps you glued to the screen.  This film is a romance, thriller and drama all rolled into one and worth picking up once it releases on Dec. 24th.

Disclosure: I was sent a copy of this DVD from the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  The views above are mine and mine alone.
