Shopkins Toys Arriving in Walmart Stores in Hartford, CT on June 30th from Moose Toys -- #Win Them Now!!! #Giveaway

Disclosure:  I was sent samples from the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  All views shared are mine and mine alone.

Even though I know most moms love going to the market themselves as a form of "me time," every once in awhile I will take the girls with me.  I tell them over and over again before entering the store that we have a list to go by, and that we are only there for a few items. But, you know girls, we like to shop, even if it is for food.  And, that holds true for my girls, who love to grab the front seat of the yellow cars attached to the store wagon, or if available, love grabbing a "shopper in training" cart of their own to wheel around the store.

When I do take the girls food shopping with me, I use this as an educational trip, teaching them the different names of fruits and vegetables, going over colors and basic counting with them, as well as talking about a balanced diet.  I have shared on numerous occasions how our oldest, Savannah, is the picky eater in the house.  She could live off of chicken noodle soup, pepperoni, pickles, french fries and chips if you let her.  But, whenever I can, I like to introduce her to new foods, in hopes that she will want to give them a try and we can grow her menu options.

So, when I heard that Moose Toys was coming out with a line of girls toys called Shopkins, exclusively in Walmart stores in Hartford, CT on June 30th (and being available nationwide by the end of the year), I had to learn more.  This new line of toys features super cute, super tiny, grocery-themed collectibles, that girls (and boys) will have fun collecting and trading with friends and siblings.

Inspired by items from each aisle in the grocery store and housed in adorable shopping bags, each little ‘Shopkin’ will bring non-stop shopping fun to kids this year.

SHOPKINS™ 5-PACK

(MOOSE/Approx. Retail Price: $4.99/Ages 4 years & up/Available: Walmart beginning June 30)

"Girls will love adding cute fruits, sweets, dairy and more to their Shopkins™ collection with the 5-Pack! Including five characters and five shopping bags, girls will get a ‘taste’ of what it’s like to build a Shopkins world. The included collector’s guide identifies the cute names of each character."

SHOPKINS™ 12-PACK

(MOOSE/Approx. Retail Price: $9.99/Ages 4 years & up/Available: Walmart beginning June 30)

"The Shopkins™ 12-Pack makes it easy for girls to stock up on their favorite characters! Featuring twelve characters, four shopping bags, one shopping basket and a collector’s guide, this pack gives girls everything they need to complete their Shopkins world. Girls should be on the look out for Ultra Rare or Special Edition characters, like Cupcake Queen and Twinky Winks, who could be at the bottom of the bag!"

There are more than 140 different characters to collect and trade, including Rare, Ultra Rare, Special and Limited Edition characters that feature special finishes and are grouped by different sections of the supermarket, from Sweet Treats to Frozen Food to Toiletries.

I was excited when I received a 5-pack and 12-pack of the Shopkins in the mail the other day for the girls to enjoy.  Never did I think they would be excited to see supermarket foods, sweet treats and toiletries.  But, as soon as they saw these cute Shopkins, they couldn't wait for me to take them out the packages.

Included in the package is adorable little shopping bags that your child can add their Shopkins toys to.  The larger 12-pack included a shopping basket, which made play time with the Shopkins that much more enjoyable, as the girls pretending to shop around the house for the items and then do a checkout and bagging of their finds.  This went on for a few hours the first day we had the Shopkins, and every day since, the girls have made a point to play with these pint-sized toys from Moose Toys.  And, a few have ended up in the car, as they girls wanted to take them along for a trip to the market.

I can definitely see this new toy launch to be a hit with girls and boys.  My girls had me check off which Shopkin collectibles they had from the cute Shopkins Shopping List poster included in each package, and made a wish list of Shopkins they want to get, with the hopes to have the whole set soon, when they release in Walmart stores in Hartford, CT the end of this month.  Savannah's birthday is on July 19th, so she is hoping to see a few packages of Shopkins as gifts. :-)  I like how she likes to hint about what gifts for us to get her.  She even stuck the Shopkins Shopping List poster with all the Shopkins available to collect on the refrigerator, making sure to circle all the ones she wanted. :-)

And, while they are not avaiable yet, I know my girls will want to complete their Shopkins experience with grocery store playsets that connect to create the ultimate Shopkins world, that the folks at Moose Toys will be offering soon.

  1. These are so cute! I would be worried about the little pieces getting lost though.
