You can't see a red balloon without thinking of the "IT" movie or Pennywise the Clown. When I first saw IT back in 2017, I thought this adaption of Stephen King's book by the same name was amazing. It had the right amount of scariness paired with drama and suspense. I ended up going back to the movies two more times to see this movie, before it ended its run. Then, like so many other fans of the movie, I patiently, but eagerly awaited the release of IT on Blu-ray and DVD, so that I could watch whenever I wanted. IT has become a must see at Halloween in our house for my husband and I. And, every time we sit and watch it, we jump at different parts, and then walk away feeling entertained.
I didn't think this movie could get any better...that was until I heard last year that there would be a sequel to the movie. IT Chapter Two released in September, right before Halloween, which was perfect.
"Because every 27 years evil revisits the town of Derry, Maine, “IT Chapter Two” brings the characters—who’ve long since gone their separate ways—back together as adults, nearly three decades after the events of the first film."
My husband and I got a babysitter so that we could see the movie on the big screen...and, boy was it good! If I had to choose between the two movies, I have to say that the second installment was my favorite. I really liked seeing the kids transition into adults and how Pennywise was still lurking around. This second installment also seemed to have a lot for suspense than the first, and kept your eyes glued to the screen right up until the very end.
Usually you can figure out what is going to happen next in a movie, but with IT Chapter Two, what I thought would happen one minute didn't, and what did was even better than I could have imagined. Just like with the first IT movie, my husband and I couldn't wait until the second movie released to Blu-ray and DVD so that we could add it to our IT movie collection, as well as the IT book from Stephen King to read while I waited. And, I am happy to say that the wait for IT Chapter Two is almost over. The movie releases to 4K UHD Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD special edition on December 10th. If you can't wait until next week, you can purchase the movie now on Digital, as it released to this format on November 19th.
I am so happy that there will not be another IT movie, as the IT Chapter Two was the conclusion to this highest grossing horror film of all time. It would be hard to outdo this sequel which really did WOW movie goers, and leave you breathless and happy with the way the movie ends.
In addition to an amazing conclusion to the IT franchise, the upcoming release to DVD, Blu-ray and 4K also has some must see bonus features which include documentaries, behind the scenes featurettes and even commentary by the director. After my husband and I watched the movie the other night, we sat and enjoyed the bonus content. I really liked watching the behind the scenes features, especially the 'Pennywise Lives Again!' one.
I could go on and on about how great IT Chapter Two and how you really have to buy it to add to your IT collection. But, seeing that this movie franchise is the highest grossing horror film of all time, I am betting that you have seen in theaters, and are just waiting like so many people to grab it when it arrives on Blu-ray, DVD and 4K next week. This horror movie would also make for a great stocking stuffer ideas, for fans of IT and Pennywise. While this isn't a family movie, it sure does make for a great date night in movie to watch with your sweetie. My husband and I can't wait for the weekend to get here so that we can watch it again. We are going to do a double feature starting with IT and then following up IT Chapter Two. :-)
