Check Out These New and Upcoming Children's Book Releases from Simon Spotlight (Review)

Disclosure: I was sent review copies from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All views shared are mine and mine alone.

Did your kids participate in your local library's summer reading program this year?  Both of my girls took full advantage of getting the summer off from homeschooling to read stacks upon stacks of books they have been meaning to read, as well as ones they took out from the library or bought with their allowance.  I was so happy to see my youngest daughter really get into the summer reading program, partly because she wanted to earn tickets for a chance to win prizes that library was raffling off, but also because she finally found herself loving books and reading.  She was late to read, and always reluctant to read when I had the girls sit for quiet time after our homeschooling, to read a book.  But, ever since the summer reading program kicked off, she has been reading non-stop.  It is hard to run out of books to read, but she has read through almost her entire bookcase of books, in addition to books she took out from the library.  She has been asking to go to the bookstore to check out new releases, in hopes to pick up a few more books to read, before we start back at homeschooling.  But, before I could take her to the bookstore, we received our monthly package from the folks at Simon & Schuster showcasing some of their new Simon Spotlight titles.

My daughter's eyes lit up when she saw the assortment of books that were with the shipment, as they were all books she would have bought had she seen them at the bookstore.  The standouts with this shipment were the books from the upcoming Dreamworks ABOMINABLE movie, which arrives in theaters in September.  Both of my girls have Sept. 27th circled on their calendars, as this is when the movie comes out, and that they want to go and see it.  If you haven't seen the trailer for this cute animated movie from Dreamworks, you really have to check it out, as it looks like a great family-friendly movie for fall.

In addition to the two ABOMINABLE books, one of which is a movie novelization, perfect for chapter book readers, the folks at Simon & Schuster also sent along two new Boss Baby books, based on the hit animated series that is streaming currently on Netflix.  My youngest can't get enough of this show, and is patiently waiting for new episodes to release so that she can binge watch them. :-)

And, if these books weren't enough, our August Simon Spotlight shipment was rounded out with another book based on a hit movie that now has its own television series -- Hotel Transylvania.  Hotel Transylvania, The Series is a hit Disney Channel show that both kids and adult fans of the Hotel Transylvania franchise enjoy watching.  The reason I say adults enjoy watching the television series, is that my husband is a huge fan, like my girls, and will sit and watch new and repeat episodes together. They really get into this fun animated television series, and love when Simon Spotlight comes out with new Hotel Transylvania, The Series books for them to read and add to their growing book collection.

Here is more about these new August Simon Spotlight releases, that would be perfect to pick up and share with your kids for end of summer enjoyment reading, before they head back to school and find themselves with limited time to read books of their choice.  And, all these new book releases would also make for great bedtime or "wind down after a long day" reading with your kids.  I make a point to read to my girls each night, either in their beds or on the couch, snuggled up together, and these new Simon Spotlight releases have been favorites during our reading time together.  Both of my girls love all the books we received, and highly recommend them, especially if your kids loves these television series and upcoming Dreamworks release.

Don't these look like great books to add to your child's book collection?  Like I said, both of my girls have enjoyed having me these books to them.  And, when I am not reading them to them at bedtime, I find them pulling them from the bookcase to read on their own.  My youngest really enjoyed the ABOMINABLE books, and now even more excited for the movie's release the end of Sept.  The bonus of the sticker sheets with the paperback version of the Boss Baby: Babies Versus Kittens book makes it a great purchase for under $5.  I don't know about you, but my girls love when a book comes with stickers.  They will add them to their sticker collection books, or even turn them into cute comic strips and short stories they create.  I will definitely be picking up the paperback version of this book, just for the stickers.  We were sent the hard cover version of the books, which doesn't come with them. I plan to send the hard copy book to my parents, so the girls have it to read with their Nana and Papa when they go for a sleepover.

All of these new August releases from Simon Spotlight will delight kids of all ages.  They feature their favorite characters from hit movie and television series.  And, I have found personally with my reluctant reader, who isn't one anymore, she was and is drawn to these books, and will sit and read them, as she likes the characters.  If you have a reluctant reader who is a fan of Boss Baby, Hotel Transylvania or the upcoming Dreamworks ABOMINABLE movie, you definitely have to pick these books up to share with them.  They will love them!
