GKIDS AND SHOUT! FACTORY PRESENT
ON BLU-RAY™ + DVD JULY 16, 2019

If you or your kids were fans of the Academy Award nominated Ernest & Celestine, which was a 2012 Franco-Belgian animated comedy-drama, then you will you love this new release, "The Big Bad Fox and Other Tales" by the same creators.  My youngest got hooked on Ernest and Celestine when my husband sat and watched it with her a few year back.  Since then, we have had to buy it on DVD so that she could watch time and again. I have lost count on how many times she has watched.  All I know is that she can recite it all by heart.  So, when I heard the folks at Shout! Factory were releasing a new animated-drama along the same lines of Ernest & Celestine, and by the same creators, I jumped at the opportunity to review it.  The folks at Shout! Factory are also providing me with a giveaway copy, so be sure to read on to learn how you can enter for a chance to win this upcoming DVD release.

With a run time of 81 minutes, this release has English and French tracks, as well as a few special features worth checking out after you watch the three stories.  This release is about a bunch of misfit animals that live in the countryside -- a fox who mothers a family of chicks, a rabbit who plays the stork and a duck who wants to be Santa - these characters alone should make you want to sit and watch this crazy release, which is sure to be a hit like Ernest & Celestine.

Like I said, I was sent a screener of this upcoming release for my family to enjoy, and my youngest couldn't wait to watch it.  Since receiving, I have sat with her a handful of times, as has my husband, and my daughter has been watching this non stop in the car on long car rides, as well as in the house. She can't get enough of the three hilarious animal stories, and continues to laugh through them. When I sat with her, I was surprised at how well this animated film  was, and how it actually touched on lessons or take aways for views including that of family, and the challenges and anxieties faced in life.  I have to say, I am happy I sat to watch this release with my daughter as it was really good. I am not sure I would watch it as many as she has so far, but I can see why she and my other daughter like it so much.  It really is a cute animated film that the whole family will enjoy.

More about this release:

"Who’s afraid of the big bad… fox? The hilarious and delightful animated film The Big Bad Fox and Other Tales will be released on Blu-ray™ and DVD on July 16 by GKIDS and Shout! Factory.

From the creators of the Academy Award®-nominated Ernest & Celestine comes another hilarious heartwarming tale of animal misfits destined to become a classic.

The countryside isn't always as calm and peaceful as it’s made out to be, and the animals on this farm are particularly agitated: a fox who mothers a family of chicks, a rabbit who plays the stork, and a duck who wants to be Santa Claus. If you think life in the country is a walk in the park, think again! Directors Benjamin Renner and Patrick Imbert adapt Renner’s own acclaimed graphic novel into a delirious, delightful triptych of interlocking stories, with a pacing and visual spontaneity that harkens back to classic Looney Tunes shorts and slapstick two-reelers. But underneath the gags (and there are plenty of them), the three stories offer a sensitive and beautiful portrayal of family, and the anxieties of modern life."
