Even though the first day of summer was a wash out here in CT, it didn't stop us from having a fun day.  Thanks to the recent digital release of the Cinderella Anniversary Edition (can you believe it has been 70 years since its first release?!), the girls and I had a movie day at home, snuggled up under blankets on our couch, in our pajamas.  Decked out in princess crowns, and with bowls of freshly popped popcorn, we were in for a magical treat as we sat to enjoy this movie together.

It has been awhile since I have seen Cinderella, so it was nice to watch this animated Disney classic, which was a favorite movie of mine growing up, right about the age of my girls.

Whenever I got to choose a movie for movie night in our house, I would always choose a Disney movie, usually Cinderella or another princess-themed movie.  While my two brothers were never fans of the girly movies, they would sit and enjoy it, as Disney always made movies that the whole family will enjoy.  And, even if they didn't show it, I could tell that they liked it, as I would usually catch them singing along to the catchy songs, or tapping their feet or fingers while laying on the floor, watching the movie in the living room.

It is nice to be able to share a favorite childhood movie with my girls, with so many great new bonus features.  And, having two girls, makes it that much special as we followed up the movie with a spa day. The girls soaked in a warm bath with a princess bath bomb I bought the other day, and then applied cucumbers to their eyes, as I laid on the couch, and took turns painting each other's finger and toe nails.  If that wasn't enough, we even had cute finger sandwiches, and cookies with tea, while we colored in the Cinderella ball gown coloring sheet (scroll down to see the FREE coloring page you can print out and share with your children, as well as tried our hand at drying Gus and Jaq, two of Cinderella's mice friends (get the step-by-step instruction below, too!)

It was such a great day to have a movie, as it was rainy most of the day, so the girls would have been stuck inside anyways.  And with all the extra Cinderella planned activities and treats I planned, the girls never once came to me to say that they were bored. :-)  After watching the movie, coloring the coloring and drawing activities, and having our spa day and tasty treats, the girls and I snuggled up together on the couch to watch all the amazing bonus content from this new release.   Just look at all the fun stuff that you will find, including trivia, singalongs, and so much more...

More about this new 70th Anniversary Edition of Cinderella on Digital and soon to be released on Blu-Ray and 4K...

"The Anniversary Edition of “Cinderella” offers two all-new extras: “Cinderella” trivia and fun facts, hosted by Ruth Righi and Ava Kolker from Disney Channel’s “Sydney to the Max,” and “In Walt’s Words: Enhanced Edition,” a special edition of “Cinderella” featuring fascinating production details, original storyboards, archival photos, thumbnail sketches and transcripts throughout the feature film. Hours of classic bonus material celebrates the masterful animation, memorable music and long-lasting impact of “Cinderella,” showcasing Walt Disney’s core group of animators, the art of Disney Legend Mary Blair, the original demo recording of the film’s title song and Cinderella’s iconic glass slipper.

Recently added to the prestigious National Film Registry, the animated classic centers on kind and hardworking Cinderella, who is ordered around by her cruel stepmother, her awful stepsisters — even the big clock in the church tower tells her when to start another day of drudgery. But they can't stop her from dreaming, and Cinderella has faith that someday her wishes will come true. When an invitation to the royal ball arrives, Cinderella is sure her time has come — until her stepsisters, with the encouragement of Lady Tremaine, tear her gown to shreds. Just when Cinderella believes all is lost, her Fairy Godmother appears, and with a wave of her wand and “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo,” transforms an ordinary pumpkin into a magnificent coach and Cinderella’s rags into a gorgeous gown, then sends her off to the Royal Ball. But Cinderella’s enchanted evening must end when the spell is broken at midnight. It will take the help of her daring animal mice friends and a perfect fit into a glass slipper to create the ultimate fairy tale ending.

Cinderella” is the ninth title to join the Walt Disney Signature Collection, which includes groundbreaking films created or inspired by the imagination and legacy of Walt Disney, featuring timeless stories and characters that have touched generations. The film takes its place alongside “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Pinocchio,” “Bambi,” “The Lion King,” “Lady and the Tramp,” “Peter Pan” and “The Little Mermaid.”"
