Pressman Toy Has a Wonderful Selection of Games the Whole Family Will Love -- Why Not Pick Up a Few for the Holidays for Your Next Family Game Night (Review)

Disclosure:  I was sent samples from the vendor in exchange for an honest review. All views shared are mine and mine alone.

We have been having a blast the past few weeks playing new games we were sent from Pressman Toy.  And, tomorrow for our family game night, the girls have already picked out a few of these games to play, as they are so much fun!

Are you a game night family?  If you are, or you are looking make a new year's tradition of spending more time with the family without electronic devices present, then these games should be on your radar.  Like I said, we have been having a blast playing them, and this is a trusted game brand that I have been buying from for years, and have yet to be disappointed with their quality of products.

As Christmas slowly creeps up on us, now is the time to pick up some fun games the whole family can play, especially on snow days, or a designated game night. They will have everyone laughing and enjoying quality time together.  For my family, we always look forward to Saturdays as we know it is game night. And, the girls love picking out a few of their favorite games to play -- I just think they like to beat my husband and I, so they have bragging rights.

Here are the games that we were recently sent from Pressman Toy, which we have given our stamp of approval. :-)

My Thoughts:

When I first watched the video above for this game, I knew I had to get my hands on the game, as my girls would go crazy for it, and that they did!  They are both competitive and love any game that they have to collect the most cards, and slapping a deck is always fun.

Thanks to the kind folks at Pressman Toy, they sent us a sample of this game, and we have been playing this game at the end of our homeschool days at home. The girls look forward to this, and I love seeing them get excited for such a fun game.  Not only is this game fun and addicting, but it is great for younger kids who are learning to identify color words.  This game will help reinforce the words and make kids recognize them better, as they will be concentrating on the card color as well as word present, if they want to win the stack of color cards in the middle stack.

This is a fast moving game that is perfect for 2 or more players.  When I am not playing this game with my girls, I will usually see them pull it from the game shelf and play together, as they really enjoy it.

My Thoughts:

My girls first started asking about this game after seeing the commercial above on television.  They said it looked like a fun game, and when we got it and started playing it, they saw that it really was.  This game, which is geared towards kids ages 4+ and can be played with 2-4 players, is easy to setup and explain game play.  Within a matter of minutes the first go around, the girls had the rules down and the game set up and ready to play. They couldn't wait to roll the dice and see who would be going first, to fish a fish out of the hungry shark's mouth.

The number rolled on the dice lets you know how many fish you need to catch.  Then, it is with luck and skill for you to pick up the fishing pole and try to successfully catch that number of fish before the shark jumps up and takes a bite. :-)

I wish I had my camera handy the first time the shark jumped up, as it startled the girls as they weren't expecting it, and then the room filled with laughter.  The girls couldn't wait to play again...and again...and again.  I still remember the first time we played Shark Bite, game play lasted a couple hours as the girls couldn't get enough of the game.  And, each and every time the shark jumped up, so did the girls out of their seat, before they laughed out loud.

This is one game we will be playing tomorrow night during our family game night, and that even my husband and I are looking forward to play, as it is such a fun game, and one kids and adults will love playing time and again.

About the Game:

"
Mamma mia! Try your hardest to remove the twisty spaghetti noodles one-by-one without letting the meatballs roll off the plate! A fun twist on the classic pick-up sticks style game play, Don’t Drop the Meatballs will serve up fun for everyone! For 2 to 4 players, ages 5 and up."

Game Contents:

Table top
Table base
20 Strands of spaghetti
5 Meatballs
Complete Instructions

*This game is available at Kmart, Walmart and Amazon.

My Thoughts:

At first this game looked like it was going to be silly.  But, once we get it up and started playing it, it turned out to be such a fun game.  There really isn't much to the game -- you have a table base and top where you place the 20 strands of spaghetti, and then top with 5 meatballs.  The object of the game is easy -- pull one strand of spaghetti at a time from the plate, without dropping a meatball.  It really does get harder as fewer and fewer spaghetti strands are left.  And, when this happens, this is when the game gets really good, as people start trying to strategize which strand will hold the meatballs in place.

This game is intended for kids ages 5+, and can be played with 2 to up to 4 players.  My girls love pulling this game from the shelf when they are looking for a quick game to play.  They can usually get a few rounds of this game in with 10-15 minutes of play time.  And, whenever a meatball goes rolling, the girls let out big belly laughs as they drop to the floor and try to grab them, before demanding a rematch.

If your family loves silly games, then you will love Don't Drop the Meatballs from Pressman Toy.

My Thoughts:

Being a homeschool mom, I am always looking for fun, educational games to pick up and play with my girls, as part of our schooling.  Many kids don't think of math as a fun subject in school, next to reading and writing.  So, to think that a math board game will be fun, is hard for kids to believe.  But, when they sit down to play SMATH, they will find themselves loving math and being surprised at how good they are when it comes to adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.

My girls are currently in 4th grade and we are working on strengthening their multiplication and division skills, so this game has been a big part of our math each day.  After we do a few math worksheets, I will pull this game out and we will be play a couple games.  I love seeing my girls confidently place their tiles onto the game board, as they shout out the correct answer.  And, when it comes to adding up their points, that is another way for them to shine as they show off how quickly they can calculate their score.

We have only had SMATH for a few weeks, but it has become a staple in our schooling, and one of those unexpected educational games that the girls can't get enough of.   It has made math more enjoyable, which  is hard to say for my oldest, who gets frustrated easily when she can't quickly solve a problem.  But, when she sits to play SMATH, you can see her concentrating, as she wants to win. :-)

What is so great about this math game is that you can customize game play based on your child's math skill level.  If they don't know multiplication or division yet, just leave those tiles out.  As kids improve their math skills, then you can add multiplication and division into the mix.  Before long, they will be a math whiz, or at least have a new appreciation and love of math.  I have brought this game to a few homeschool meetups and groups I am apart of, and all the kids love this game.  I have heard from parents that their kids couldn't stop talking about how much fun it was and how they can now quickly add 7+7, 9+9, etc.  They usually end up buying the game so they can play SMATH at home with their kids, too.

This is definitely one of those games that will grow with your child, and help them improve their math skills.  They will think of math like a game, and have a blast learning to solve different mathematical equations, in order to score the most points.

About the Game:

"Get ready to make a splash with Hydro Strike! In this head-to-head pinball game, you’ll need fast flipping fingers to shoot the ball into your opponent’s goal.  Score and your opponent will get sprayed in the face with water!  Since a sprayer is aimed at both players, strike quick when you play, or you’ll get the spray!

The first player to score 5 times wins.  Will you win or get wet?  For 2 players, ages 7 and up."

  • Game Unit
  • 2 Balls
  • Complete Instructions

My Thoughts:

Hydro Strike is another Pressman Toy game that we will be playing during our Saturday Game night.  Why?  Because the girls are looking forward to seeing my husband and I get a splash of water in the face.  Little do they know that I have been holding back my pinball skills to turn the tables on them tomorrow. :-)

If you and your kids love playing pinball games, then Hydro Strike is the perfect game for you to play, as it has you playing pinball against your opponent, and the ones who loses get a splash of water to the face.  As you can imagine this game will have everyone at the table laughing, even the person wiping the water away from their face.  Geared towards ages 7+, this two player game is one you don't want to stop playing.  For the past week, my girls have been practicing Hyrdo Strike after our homeschool work, in order to hone their pinball skills. I love watching them giggle as they make each other get splashed with water. Then, once they are both soaked, they call it a game, before quickly asking for a rematch.

Out of all the games mentioned above, I have to say that Hydro Strike has been a favorite of our whole family.  Come one, who doesn't like seeing their opponent lose and get wet?  I highly recommend this as a game to pick up and enjoy with the whole family.  Just make sure you have a towel ready to wipe out. :-)
