Three warm, funny stories about three dog best friends

Instead of filling beneath the tree with all toys, how about adding a few good books for your kids to welcome in the new year with?  My girls love to read, and love visiting the library or bookstores to get new books.  And, like me, when the cold weather sets in, they love to grab a warm blanket and find a comfy spot on the couch to sit and read a good book.

If you are looking to share a fun beginner reader book with your child, or get a reluctant reader to get excited about reading, and they love dogs, why not consider picking up "Three Waggly Tales" by Pippa Goodhart.  This book is a level 1 of the Reading Ladder series, in that it is the perfect book for beginner readers who are able to read simple stories, with a parent or caregiver's help.  The sentences in this book are short and simple, and the type is big and clear.  I remember back when my girls were learning how to read, they gravitated towards books with big print.  They thought that the books would be easier to read, and that there were less words to have to sound out.  But, in no time, they were whizzing right through these books and looking for more challenging ones. :-)

What I loved about this book, next to the three cute stories that make up this beginner reader book, is that there are only 1-5 lines for your child to read per page. So, even the most reluctant of readers will not mind sitting and reading one, or all three, stories with you, as they will see a handful of words per page, many of which repeat, along with fun, colorful illustrations.

Even though my girls are reading chapter books, they had fun reading this book and the three dog tales, about three dog best friends.  And, when they were done reading this book, they had fun drawing pictures of the dogs, based on how the illustrator, Sarah Jennings, drew them.  My girls and I highly recommend this book for beginner readers.  And, this book in particular would make for a great stocking stuffer or part of a beginner book set you gift your child this holiday season.

About this book:
