GOLDEN GLOBE® WINNER WILLIAM SHATNER LENDS HIS VOICE
TO THE DELIGHTFUL INTERGALACTIC ADVENTURE
FROM UNIVERSAL 1440 ENTERTAINMENT

AVAILABLE ON DVD, DIGITAL AND ON DEMAND TODAY!!!

You have all heard and maybe even used the excuse, "The dog ate my homework."  But, what about, "Aliens ate my homework."  A little far-fetched right?  Well, when you sit to watch this new DVD/Digital release with your children starting today, it may give them the idea to tell their teacher's this excuse.  And, if you live on the East Coast, picking up this new release tonight as it is looking like the kids may be having a snow day tomorrow and maybe even Thursday, thus making an afternoon movie the perfect way to keep them busy and help you keep your sanity. :-)

I received this movie the other night and we ended up watching it as part of our Friday night family movie night.  My youngest knew all about the movie even though we never saw it.  She said she used to see the movie trailers and had friends tell her about how funny it was.  She was excited when she saw the DVD arrive at our door the other day.  I love William Shatner, so was happy to see he voiced the Phil character.  If you are wondering if this movie is based on Bruce Coville's best-selling book series, the answer is "Yes!"  So, if you have a fan of these books in your house, then you will definitely want to pick up this movie to share with your kids.

Doesn't this look like a funny movie?  It really was, and had our whole family laughing throughout it the other night.  When we were done watching the movie, we took time to check out the fun bonus features that come with both the DVD and digital version of this movie.

BONUS FEATURES on DVD and digital:

Not of This World: Creating Alien Life Forms – A look at creating some of the film's Alien characters, showcasing the work of Emmy-winning visual effects maestro Todd Masters and his creature effects team. Viewers will get a peek at what it takes to bring the creatures to life on-set through the magic of prosthetic make-up, as well as practical effects techniques like oversized sets and puppetry.
Aliens Ate My Homework: From Page to Screen – This piece will give viewers a peek at the process of turning the novel into a film – from concept to production and visual effects. Featuring behind the scenes footage plus interviews with the cast, filmmakers, and author Bruce Coville.
On the Set with Bruce Coville – The beloved author gives viewers a peek at life on the set of Aliens Ate My Homework while providing details on the origins of the Galactic Patrol book series.

The Galactic Patrol Wants You! – A closer look at the members of the Galactic Patrol featuring Grakker, Madame Pong, Rod Allbright, Elspeth, and Phillogenous Esk Piemondum, aka Phil. In this featurette, the intrepid crew of the Starship Ferkel will reveal details on their current mission and will inform viewers on what it takes to become a member of the Galactic Patrol.

Both of my girls agreed that the "On the Set with Bruce Coville" was their favorite part of the bonus section.  Even though they haven't read the books yet, they said it was interesting to learn about the aliens and see the set and how this movie was made.  Even though they know they aliens are not real (or, are they?), they said this movie made them fun and not scary, which they enjoyed.  And, with the comedic aspect of it and the great cast of kids and easy-going aliens, the movie was one of the best they have seen in a while, and one they will be watching again soon...I am guessing it will be part of our snow day tomorrow or Thursday, which I will not mind, as I really enjoyed it, and wouldn't mind sitting and watching again.
