Holiday Gift Guide 2017 -- Unleash Your Child's Creativity with These Two New Etch A Sketch Toys (Review)

Disclosure:  I was sent samples from the vendor in exchange for an honest review. All views shared are mine and mine alone.

Did you have a favorite toy growing up?  For me it was my Etch A Sketch.  I remember my brothers and I each getting one from Santa when I was 6 years old.  At that time it was a big deal, and all the kids were playing with them.  So, I was over the moon excited about getting one.  There was something about being able to turn the little knobs on the Etch A Sketch pad and seeing lines form.  And, if you ever messed up, you could simply give it a crazy shake and were back to a blank canvas again.  :-)  I can't help but smile about my youth and my Etch A Sketch.

I wish I had kept my Etch A Sketch to pass down to my girls, but it went missing through the years.  But, thankfully the folks at Spin Master have brought back the iconic Etch a Sketch toy in an amazing way with two new innovations to the popular toy line.

These don't look like the Etch A Sketch you grew up tinkering around with, right?  While the Etch A Sketch Junior Joystick is closer to what we grew up with, I have to say that both of these new toys from Spin Master bring all the fun of Etch A Sketch we all know and love.  :-)

I wish I had the camera going when I showed the girls these two new Etch A Sketch toys.  They were engrossed in a game on their iPads and couldn't be bothered.  I started talking about how I used to love the Etch A Sketch as a kid and talked about all the fun their uncles and I had playing with them and creating unique designs.  I had mastered how to make a cool house after hours of trial and error, and was so proud to show off my Etch a Sketch skills back then.  But, I wasn't impressing my girls with my nostalgic stories.  It wasn't until the iPad batteries died that the girls picked up the two Etch A Sketch toys I left behind for them.  Bella was quick to see the design I made on the Etch A Sketch Junior Joystick toy, and wanted to see what she could make.  I had to show the girls how to get a blank canvas.  They thought it was magic and loved this part -- shaking like crazy to make the lines and designs disappear.  I have to say if you haven't given an Etch A Sketch a good shake lately, it really is a good stress reliever. :-)

My girls had so much fun playing with their new Etch A Sketch toys.  While it wasn't an electronic device, they both agreed these toys were really cool.

I loved watching them sit there together and create unique designs. They had so much fun showing off their creations, just like my brothers and I liked doing as kids.

With the holidays fast approaching, why not pick up one or both of these two new Etch A Sketch toys to surprise your child with.  While they may not be impressed at first with this toy, once they start using it, they will really get into it, and spend hours creating fun designs and creations worthy of showing off. :-)  And, like my childhood years, the Etch A Sketch is great to have for long car rides as you don't have to worry about batteries running out, and every time you grab an Etch A Sketch you are bound to make something new.  Skies the limit to what you can create when you let your imagination run wild.

I am so happy to be able to share a favorite toy of my youth and that has been popular with both kids and adults for over 50 years.  My girls now see why I said it was a favorite toy of my youth, and I get to relive my childhood through them and watching them play with these two new Etch A Sketch innovations.  And, when they aren't looking, I can't help but pick up these toys and give them a try and see what I can make.  I don't want to brag, but I can still make a mean line house with the Etch A Sketch Junior Joystick. :-)

Here is more about the two new Etch A Sketch toys, that are sure to be a hit with kids and adults this holiday season...
