When it comes to children's books, I have a list of authors and illustrators who I keep track of, that my girls and I are fond of.  Will Terry is top on our list for illustrators as he always creates unique and really brings the story being told to life.  Whenever we read a book with illustrations done by Will Terry, my girls and I always find ourselves lingering on the pages admiring all the detail and can see he really put a lot of time and thinking into his work.

So, when I received an email a couple weeks ago about covering "Bonaparte Falls Apart" by Margery Cuyler, I was excited to see Will Terry as the illustrator.  I jumped at the opportunity to review and am so glad I did, as it was a hit with the girls, and I loved it, too!

Here is more about this children's book release, which arrived in stores back in August, but is perfect to share with your kids for Halloween...

"Veteran children’s author Margery Cuyler and illustrator Will Terry deliver a true bone-ified friendship story in BONAPARTE FALLS APART.

Bonaparte is having a tough time. It’s hard for this young skeleton to just hang loose when he can’t keep hold of himself. When he plays catch, his throwing arm literally takes a flyer. Eating lunch can be a real jaw-dropping occasion. How can he start school when he has so many screws loose? Luckily, Bonaparte hit the bone-anza with Franky Stein, Black Widow, and Mummicula, three true, bone-a fide friends who all have some boneheaded ideas to help pull him together. But will it be enough to boost his confidence and get him ready for the first day of school?

Adorable art and wordplay combine with a sweet story to make BONAPARTE FALLS APART a monstrously fun tale – and a perfect read for Halloween! "

Just looking at the cover art of this book, will get kids excited to see what lies beyond the front cover.  My girls wondered if it was going to be a scary story.  But, as we started to read, they had smiles on their faces, and said, "I am really liking this book, Mom." :-)  I love when the girls really get into a book and are eager to see what happens next, or start giving ideas on what they think will happen next.

I will not spoil the ending of this cute children's book for you.  But, I will say it has become a popular book in our house and one the girls continue to ask me to read at bedtime.  And, with Halloween fast approaching this would make for a great surprise book to share with your children.  Not only will this book have them laughing, but is is also a great book that touches on friendship, and is a great back-to-school that kids will enjoy for years to come.
