My ACT Kids Toothpaste MommyParty Was a Huge Hit #sponsored #ACTKidsToothpaste

Disclosure:  This post and party was sponsored by ACT Kids Toothpaste but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

ACT® Anticavity Fluoride Rinse

Before becoming a stay-at-home mom, I used to be a community health educator.  One of my jobs was to go into schools and attend community health fairs and events and provide educational seminars and classes for kids and adults. One of my favorite topics to discuss was oral hygiene with kids, as I had so many fun games and activities I would play with the kids to get the message of proper oral care to them.  Even though I didn't have children at the time, I knew from talking to many parents, grandparents and caregivers that brushing time was difficult in their houses as many kids didn't like to brush or have their teeth cleaned on a daily basis.  And, if that wasn't enough parents and caregivers also struggled to get children to eat healthy (including eating their vegetables), in order to keep their teeth clean, and have an overall well-balanced diet.  Fast forward to today, and now I can relate to what the parents and caregivers were talking about as I have two little girls who hate brushing their teeth.  I also recently read an interesting statistic from a survey sponsored by Sanofi Consumer Healthcare about this very thing, so I knew I wasn't along in this daily struggle...

"More than half of moms (56%) say they struggle with getting their kid(s) to brush their teeth every day and even more (69%) say they wish getting their kid(s) to brush their teeth was easier.  In fact, 52% of moms say they would give up their "me time" for a month if it meant they never had to battle with their kid(s) again to get them to brush their teeth" (1)

So, when I asked to host an ACT Kids Toothpaste Mommy Party recently, I jumped at the opportunity, as it would let gather a group of moms and their kids and help educate them about the importance of oral care in children and provide them with samples of ACT Kids Toothpaste and a new toothbrush for each of the children in attendance.  It is hate to brush their teeth, but love getting new toothbrushes and toothpastes, especially if they have a picture of one of their favorite superheroes or characters from a show or movie they like.  When I showed my girls the goodies we received to help host this ACT Kids Toothpaste Mommy Party, they were all smiles, and couldn't wait to use their new smiley face toothbrush and the bubble gum flavored toothpaste.

I ended up hosting the party at my daughters' old preschool as I have helped out in the past subbing as a teacher, and knew they would be covering dental health this month.  We coordinated with a local dental hygienist to come in and do a little hands on interactive presentation with the kids, where she talked about good and bad snacks, what too much sugar can do to your teeth, and why brushing and flossing correctly twice a day is so important.

We had over 15 kids in attendance including some of my daughters' friends who came for the party, as my girls couldn't stop talking about the goodies they would get and how much fun it would be.  In addition to the dentist hygienist's presentation, we also played a matching game as well as a fun "Happy Tooth, Sad Tooth" activity where the kids looked through magazines and cut out photos of good and bad snacks and glued them on the happy and sad tooth.

This was a good reinforcement activity after learning about unhealthy sugary foods and which foods they should avoid, and which they should reach for when looking for a healthy snack.  I heard from parents after this party that the kids would talk about what they learned with family and friends and show off their sad and happy tooth and all the foods they glued on them that were health and unhealthy.  :-)  I love seeing kids getting excited about their health and wanting to learn through fun activities and games.

You can't have a party with snacks, right? :-)  I filled a table with all healthy snacks and some fun treats that made both the parents and kids smile, like my apple and peanut butter with mini-marshmallows.

I also did a fun rainbow kabob with different seasonal fruits for the kids to enjoy.

All in all the kids and parents had a blast at my ACT Kids Toothpaste Mommy Party, and were so appreciative of the free ACT gift bag I sent their kids home with, along with a "My Brushing Chart" to help kids keep track of brushing twice a day.  My girls were quick to add this chart to the wall in the bathroom and love putting a sticker on each day to show that they brushed twice and rinsed once (Note: ACT Kids Anticavity Rise is indicated for children ages 6 years and older, and should not be used with children younger than 6.)

Together We Can Make a Smile Last

If you struggle with your child to brush, why not try making it a more enjoyable experience for both of you.  You can find a daily brushing chart online to print out, or can create your own, and let your kids choose stickers to mark off each day they successfully brush twice.  Maybe throw in a fun incentive if they can do this for a month like a trip to the bookstore for a new book, a frozen yogurt, or even a fun movie night at home where they get to choose the movie and healthy snack to serve.

Here is daughters' friend, Brooke who loves tracking her daily brushing progress using her new ACT Kids toothpaste and toothbrush on her "My Brushing Chart"

CJ and Jayce love their new ACT Kids Toothpaste, too! :-)

Like I mentioned above, my girls and all the kids that received gift bags from ACT Kids Toothpaste were excited for a new toothbrush and to try out the flavored toothpaste they received in their bags.

They were either given the bubble gum or fruit punch flavor to try. These new ACT Kids Toothpastes are for kids ages 2 and older.  New ACT Kids Toothpaste is available at a variety of retail locations, including select Walmart, Walgreens, and Target locations."

I hope you had fun reading about my ACT Kids Toothpaste Mommy Party and it gives you ideas to help with the brushing battle in your house.  Remember, try to make it fun, and let the kids choose their toothbrushes and toothpastes, so they feel like they are being included in this daily hygiene task.  Also, talk to them about unhealthy and healthy snack options and why too much sugar is not good for them. Yes, they can have sugar once in a while, but not all the time, as they want to keep their teeth healthy and strong.  And, too much may cause cavities or serious dental problems that they don't want to have.

ICYMI Miffy Just Released New Toy Line Featuring Figurines, Cars and Plush Toys - Exclusively at Walmart! (Review)

Announcing the New Miffy Toy Line Exclusively at Walmart!!!!

What a great way to start the week...with a fun new toy collection announcement.  You may recall me mentioning over the past two weeks about my Miffy ambassadorship.  I even added a fun badge to my sidebar on the left that when you click the image it will bring you to the Miffy official website where you can learn more about Miffy and her friends, fun activities and more.  It is hard for me to keep secrets especially when I am so excited about something and want to share with others.  But, I was asked to hold off until today to tell you all about the new Miffy toy collection available starting today at Walmart and I tried hiding this news the other day from my girls, but we received a box the other day in the mail and the girls got to it before me, and screamed with excitement when they saw a talking Miffy plush doll and a Miffy's Adventures Big and Small small figure collection, which included Miffy and her friends.  They were over the moon excited, just like I was when I heard the news a week or so ago about this new toy launch.  And, as you can imagine the girls were eager to tear open the packages and try out the toys and pose for photos.  But, I made them wait until this afternoon to play with the toys...yep, a mean mom :-)

Bella grabbed for the mini figures playset, while Savannah couldn't wait to get her hands on the plush talking Miffy.

She read on the back of the box the other day when she took it from the box and saw that this new talking toy says a handful of popular Miffy phrases as well as the plays the Miffy song.  And, this talking plush didn't disappoint when she finally got her hands on it this afternoon.  When she wasn't pressing Miffy's hand to hear it talk, she was cuddling up and giving her new friend lots of hugs and kisses.

And, tonight as I am writing this post up, Savannah is fast asleep in bed with Miffy by her side. She is probably dreaming about all the fun adventures Miffy and her friends have been on, and what new adventures await them. :-)

Do you have a Miffy fan in your house?  If so, then you will want to make a point to look for this new toy collection when you go shopping at Walmart soon, and pick up some (or all) :-) of the Miffy toys to surprise them with.  Savannah's birthday is next week and she has put in her last minute birthday gift requests...she would like more Miffy toys so she and her little sister can recreate some of their favorite Miffy scenes and make up their own stories with their Miffy and friends figures. Here are some of the other new Miffy toys you can find at Walmart and over at right now...

MIFFY 3" Family Multipack

Gourmet Relish from Fourth Creek Food Co. Was All the Talk at Our 4th of July Cookout (Review) #FourthCreekFood #Tryazon

Disclosure:  I was sent samples as part of a Tryazon sampling party, in exchange for my honest opinion. All views shared are mine and mine alone.

Fourth Creek Foods

Fourth Creek Red Pepper relish was created by a mom who loved hosting family and friends and filling their belly's with great food.  And, thanks to Barbara Schiavetti's son, Andrew, he has brought her red pepper relishes and recipes to the masses by creating the Fourth Creek Food Co.  Now, we can all experience this wonderful and oh so versatile pepper relish for our family gatherings, when we are looking for a gift to give foodies in our life, or simply want to add a little kick or sweetness to meals we serve our family at the dinner table.

"Our Pepper Relishes are modern twists on familiar classics, made with premium quality ingredients. Sweet, tangy and fresh tasting, their balanced flavor profile set them above their peers. The result is an extremely versatile all around condiment ideal for almost any occasion, social setting and culinary application."

“Whether we were with family or friends, at dinner, a sunset barbecue or a cocktail party, my mom’s Sweet Red Pepper Relish made anything from hot dogs to baked brie that much more memorable.”

I am so happy that Andrew was so passionate about his mother's pepper relishes and not keep this amazing tasting relish a secret.  I tried this pepper relish for the first time over the weekend, when I had family and friends over four our annual 4th of July cookout.  At first my guests giggled as I had a table set up with the jars of relishes and chips to dip.  They said I looked like one of the lady's you see at the market handing out food samples.

But, once they came to the table and tried the product they could see why I was so passionate, just like Andrew was, with getting the word out about the Fourth Creek Food Co. line of pepper relishes.

They really are so tasty simply dipped with a cracker or tortilla chip, or when added to burgers or hot dogs right off the grill, and even spread on chicken or crab cakes.

Whatever food you are enjoying or looking to cook up for your family, you can reach for these red pepper relishes -- available in original-sweet, hint of habanero - medium, habanero heat - hot -- and add a little extra sweetness or kick of heat to the dish.  And, the best part about these pepper relishes is that you don't have to be savvy in the kitchen to use these relishes as they go great with everything.  Need a little inspiration, visit the Fourth Creek Food Co.'s website and check out the recipes they have shared.  Just be warned they include photos of the dishes which will make your mouth water. :-)

I am so happy I had the opportunity to sample this product line and truly love the versatility of this relish -- can use when making a cheese dip, added to meatloaf mixture or simply top a burger or crab cakes with the relish.

This relish has enough heat to satisfy those who love hot foods, while not deterring those who are not fans of hot hot condiments as they will enjoy the little kick too.  There are so many great recipes on the company's website to show how you you can use their pepper relishes.

But, my go to is just to grab a container of cream cheese and mix the relish into it -- viola instant cheese dip with a kick.  This is definitely one pantry staple everyone should have in their home.  And, when thinking about housewarming gifts or items to add to food gift baskets, why not pick up the different red pepper relishes from this company to include.  Everyone who tried this relish at our recent 4th of July cookout fell in love with it, and we ran out fast. :-)

Young Horse Lovers with Love the Realistic Hand-Painted Horses from the Schleich Horse Club Collection - My Girls Do! (Review) #AD

Disclosure:  This post is part of a sponsored campaign for Schleich.  I received compensation for my participation, but my review and opinions are my own.

A couple weeks ago I received an email asking if I wanted to review a sampling of Schleich horses and accessories.  I was quick to respond, "Yes" as I knew my girls would love to help me review, as they have a nice collection of these hand painted horses from past reviews and from Christmas when they asked Santa for some more.  Here are some photos I took of the girls playing with their new Schleich toys...

These are the horses and accessories from the Schleich Horse Club we were sent and that are shown in the video above....

Groom with Icelandic pony mare (41431)

Paddocks (42106)

Arabian mare (13761)

Haflinger mare (13812)

Haflinger foal (13814)

I can't get over how realistic each of these horses we were sent look.  You can tell a lot of time went into hand painting and adding all the details to these horses, right down to the manes and hooves.  They are simply stunning and a joy to look at and play with.  My girls really can't get enough of their Schleich horses, and I know these toys will grow with them and then will be displayed on their dressers to admire as they grow older and get more into horses and horseback riding. :-)

We live diagonally from a horse farm, and usually see people learning how to ride horses and horse drawn carriages ride by our house, when we aren't walking up the hill to feed the horses apples and carrots.  My girls love everything about horses, and can't wait until they get a little older so that they can sign up for riding lessons at the farm up the street from us.  They already have the horses picked out they want to ride -- Shelby and Black Beauty.  But, in the meantime, they enjoy suprirsing their horse friends with snacks or playing with their growing collection of Schleich toys.  And, if you have streaming channels like Netflix, then you probably have seen new horse shows for families to watch together.  My girls have watched all episodes of Spirit the Horse and Free Rein, and are eagerly awaiting new episodes.

This week as part of school, I did a fun theme week all about horses.  The girls painted wooden horse shoes and added jewels to them to make them sparkle.  They are now hanging above the entry way in their bedtimes to bring them good luck.  We also make a handful of horse paintings, including one we added yarn to look like a beautiful mane.  And, just last night the girls made a horse barn for their new Schleich horses to stay in.  It amazes me how kids get so excited about the simplest things like a cardboard box.  They are always asking for new toys whenever we go to a store. But, give them a box and they use their creativity to make fun DIY crafts.

Want to make a horse barn like the ones my girls made last night and are still playing with today?  First, you will need a box -- a medium sized box works best.  Then, you will need either wrapping paper, red paint or construction paper to wrap the outside of the box.

You will also need scissors, tape and box cutter knife.  I found that cutting the sides of the roof worked best with the scissors.  Once you have this done, you want to bring all the sides of the top of the box together to form the roof and tape together.

Then, you want to paint or wrap the box with wrapping paper or construction paper.

After that you want to use a couple pieces of brown construction paper to form the roof.  You will want to tape this into place and make sure you do a little fold in the center to form the roof arch.

Now is the fun part...if you have horse or farm stickers, you can add them to the 4 sides of your new horse barn.  You could even print and cut out pictures to embellish your box.  Once the stickers are in place you will want to carefully cut a barn door for your horses to go in and out of. An adult is needed for this step.  Carefully make a door by cutting up one side and across the top and bottom of the door.  Bend the door open.  Cut the door in half to make a Dutch door.

We came up with a few props to add to our new horse pan.  We used scrap cardboard and covered it with aluminum foil to make a pond for the horses to drink.  I also took popsicle sticks and clothespins to make horse fences.  Twine was used for a lasso, and Savannah came up with the idea of using Quaker oats in a small cup and stage as horse food.

Once I am done with the wine in the fridge, I will be giving the girls the cork, which they can pretend is a barrel for the horses to jump over. Bella found some extra red plastic beads for apples.  I cut little pieces of green pipe cleaner and she added to the bead to make it look like a leaves of the apple. See, kids think of wonderful ideas when given a box and an idea.  Can you think of other props the girls could make using household items or crafting supplies?  Once you start thinking about props and the horse barn, you will want to get an assortment of Schleich horses like the ones we were sent to add to your staged horse barn.

Savannah's birthday is in a couple weeks and she has decided last minute to change up her theme.  Now she wants a horse party.  We will be buying more Schleich horses and each party goer will get to adopt  a horse of their choice, name it and go home with some coloring and activity sheets that will educate the about proper horse care.  Savannah also asked for face clothes and toothbrushes for the goody bags.  She said her friends can use these when pretending to groom their horses. :-)  So, while I quickly scour the Internet for horse themed birthday party supplies and games -- we will be doing pin the mane of the horse thanks to the extra manes we made this week in class -- why not head on over to Schleich and check out their amazing assortment of horse toys for that horse lover in your life. They also tell other hand painted animals, but right now my girls are all about horses thanks to the horse toys we were sent, and I can't stop raving about the exceptional quality of these toys to family, friends and my blog followers.  You really need to see these horse toys up close to see how well-made they are. :-)

Be sure to follow Schleich on their official website and social media channels below, for special offers, giveaways, new product additions and more...
