My Thoughts:

Were you a fan of Anne of Green Gables?  I grew up reading the books and watching the show on television every week with my mother.  It was the first "grown up" show we enjoyed watching together and would talk about.  We loved Anne Shirley and the rest of the characters who lived on the Green Gables farm.

So, when I heard that they were recreating Anne of Green Gables and releasing it to DVD on Nov. 8th, as well as airing it on PBS on Thanksgiving night, I couldn't wait to share the news with my mom.  She was just as excited as I was about the show.  While I am not usually a fan of recreating shows or movies, I was eager to see if they put a new spin on things, or be able to compare it to the old Anne of Green Gables I grew up watching.

Thanks to the kind folks at PBS Distribution, I was sent along an advance copy of the 90-minute movie to watch.  It came at a great time as I have been recuperating from pneumonia and am supposed to be taking it easy.  I wasn't sure if my girls would be into watching the movie, so I played them the trailer I shared above.  Savannah was excited and said it looked like a good movie.  Bella, who is only 4.5 years old, said she would be pass.  So, the other night, Savannah and I snuggled up in my bed and we watched this movie right before bed.  It was great being able to share Anne of Green Gables with her, and see her get excited about Anne Shirley and the other characters.  She was asking questions and trying to guess what would come next.  In the end, we were both smiles.  She liked the movie, as did I.  While I still prefer the original Anne of Green Gables series, this is definitely a must see for fans of the series.  It was great thinking back to my youth when I used to watch this movie and how I admired the character Anne Shirley.

You can pick up this new movie tomorrow on DVD or digital download, or wait until Thanksgiving evening to see it on PBS.  Either way, make a point to check it out, as I know you will love it, too!
