Hot Toy of the Season -- Code & Go™ Robot Mouse Activity Set from Learning Resources (Review)

Disclosure:  I was sent a sample from the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  All views shared are mine and mine alone.

Prior to receiving a sample of the Code & Go™ Robot Mouse Activity Set from Learning Resources to review, my girls had already had this on their wish lists after seeing and playing with it at one of the homeschool co ops we attend, and then again at a STEM drop in center near us. They thought this was the coolest thing...who knew coding could be so much fun.  And, when they came home the first time after trying out the Code & Go™ Robot Mouse Activity Set, they couldn't wait to tell their Daddy, who informed them that this is what he does as part of his job as a computer programmer.  When they heard this, the girls thought that Daddy was super cool. :-)  And, from then on, they continued to ask for the Code & Go™ Robot Mouse Activity Set and would point it out when they saw it online or in store.

So, I knew that when we received it to try out, that my girls would be excited, and that they were.  I had them wait until their Daddy was home as he wanted to do it with them.  We have only had this activity set for a few weeks, but the girls took it easily and are having a blast learning basic coding.  And, my husband loves being able to share his love for coding with them, and also helping teach them this part of their homeschooling.

About this activity set:

Create your path with 16 maze grids to create a 20" x 20" maze board, 22 maze walls, and 3 tunnels for endless possibilities. Colby lights-up, makes sounds, and features 2 speeds along with colorful buttons to match coding cards for easy programming and sequencing. You don't have to be a programmer or skilled in coding to enjoy the Code & Go™ Robot Mouse Activity Set with your children.  Everything you need is included in this box set including 10 double sided activity cards and 30 double sided coding cards.

Once you read through the easy to understand Activity Guide, which explains basic coding concepts, you are ready to create paths using the 16 maze grids, 22 maze walls and 3 tunnels to solve the different coding and activity cards. Or, you can just have fun and use the maze pieces and create your own path for your programmable robot mouse, Colby, to move through, on his way to find the piece of cheese.

While $59.99 may sound like a lot for a toy to give your child this holiday season, you have to realize it is one that they will be using for years to come, and that will grow with them.  And, unlike other toys they will find under the tree on Christmas morning, this one has an educational component, so they will learn while having fun.  The Code & Go™ Robot Mouse Activity Set from Learning Resources has won awards and that is because it is loved by both kids and adults, and is unique.  Come on, name another coding product out there?  I can't think of one that is geared towards kids ages 5+ and that will provide hours of enjoyable time and again.  My girls love to pull this activity set out now that they know how to use it, and will sit together building the course or their robot mouse to go through on his search for cheese.  It is great for solo play or when paired with another robotic mouse (sold separately) can become a multi-player game.

So, if your child has been asking or showing interest in coding, or enjoys toys with an educational component, then you will definitely want to check out the Code & Go™ Robot Mouse Activity Set from Learning Resources, as a gift for them this holiday season.  I know you will be impressed with it once you see your child learning the basics of coding, and having a blast setting up the course and getting their robot mouse to navigate their way to the cheese. You will also want to give it a go, too! :-)
