Synopsis:

It's a bird! It's a plane! Actually . . . it's a dog! This book is full of canines captured on camera as they fly through the air.
Man's best friend-flying. Flydogs is a collection of euphoric canines sailing through the air, ears flapping in the wind. These are dogs at their happiest, and the creative photographs delight dog lovers from kindergarteners to grandparents. Generally speaking, most dogs you meet have their paws firmly planted on the ground. Sure, they jump up on two legs to sniff what's on the kitchen table or to nose open the top of a garbage can. But they are most thrilled and most determined when they're flying through the air.
Whether jumping for joy, running as fast as possible, leaping off diving boards or piers, bounding over fences, or soaring for a Frisbee, life is good when you're a flying dog. More than one hundred dogs leap off the pages of Flydogs, creating a delightful photographic collection of happy hounds. You can't help but feel your spirit soar too, as you pore over these pictures. Flydogs is a book that belongs on the coffee table of any dog lover."
My Thoughts:
If you follow my blog, then you know that I am a huge dog lover.  I grew up loving animals and had my heart stolen by my first dog, Toby, a Maltese, we got when I was 10.  And, once I moved out on my own, I began rescuing dogs to give them a forever home, and forever place in my heart.  Fast forward to today, and I am still rescuing dogs, and have two dogs Milly and Lily, who not only have a special place in my heart, but also the hearts of my girls -- who, like their mom and dad, are dog lovers, too. :-)
If you were to come to our house, you would see pictures of the girls, as well as pictures of our pups through the years all around the house.  They are like our children, and have been since I rescued my first dog, a lhasa apso mix, we called Manny.  In addition to photos, I also have a handful of dog-related books out on the coffee so family and friends can flip through.  My girls love grabbing a book and pointing to pups they want when they get older, or talk about how cute a particular breed is. Just a couple weeks ago, I was able to add another cute dog book called Flydogs by Todd R. Berger to our coffee table and collection of dog books.
Out of all the dog books we have, this is the first one that shows dogs flying through the air.  Yes, you read that right.  Todd R. Berger did an amazing job in capturing photos of man's best friend sailing through the air with their ears flapping, and what looks like a smile on their faces, in many of the photos.  As soon as my girls saw this book, they had to sit on the couch with it and flip through the pages.  All I heard from the couch was giggles and the girls saying, "oh, wow" and "how cute."  They had a hard time trying to decide on their favorite photos, as they were all cute and unique.
When I finally was given the chance to look through the book myself, I couldn't help but smile as I flipped through the pages.  I found myself remembering back to my first rescue, Manny, who loved car rides and taking trips to parks with us.  While he was not a bug jumper, there were occasions he would surprise us and leap for a ball or try and catch a butterfly.  It was cute to see his little paws lift from the ground and his ears flap in the wind.  And, just like many of the dogs in this book, Manny would always have a smile on his face, which always melted our hearts.
I was amazed at the different photos captured of dogs in flight, as some look nearly impossible, or at least hard to capture.  With over a hundred dogs leaping off the pages of Flydogs, dog lovers everywhere will be smiling and looking at their dogs sitting next to them, thinking about how their dogs love the thrill of flying through the air...or at least wonder if that is what they are dreaming about when you find them making noise in their sleep.
With the holidays fast approaching Flydogs by Todd R. Berger would make for the perfect gift to surprise that special dog lover in your life.  Or, why not pick up and add to your coffee table so that when family and friends come to visit or for holiday dinner, they have a cute book filled with man's best friend flying through the air, in amazing and oh so creative photographic delight.  My pups give this book two paws up, and I couldn't agree with them more. :-)
