The History Major by Michael Phillip Cash Blog Tour -- Author Q&A

I love when I get the opportunity to not only chat with an author but find a good book in the process to add to my growing must read book list.  :-)  What are you reading now?  For me, I have a couple different books going.  One is about homeschooling and planning lessons for my girls and another is a thriller, which I can't put down.  But, when I do wrap these two books my next book will be The History Major by Michael Phillip Cash.

Prior to chatting with Michael, I had never heard about him or his books.  But, I am so glad I was able to participate in his blog tour this month as I now have another wonderful author to follow and pick up new releases, like this one.

Have you heard about Michael Phillip Cash or read any other his previous releases?  If not, here is more about his new book, The History Major, as well as a short author bio, followed by my Author Q&A, where Michael will share more insight into this book, what he has planned for future books, etc.

About the Book:

After a vicious fight with her boyfriend followed by a night of heavy partying, college freshman Amanda Greene wakes up in her dorm room to find things are not the same as they were yesterday. She can't quite put her finger on it. She's sharing her room with a peculiar stranger. Amanda discovers she's registered for classes she would never choose with people that are oddly familiar. An ominous shadow is stalking her. Uncomfortable memories are bubbling dangerously close to her fracturing world, propelling her to an inevitable collision between fantasy and reality. Is this the mother of all hangovers or is something bigger happening?

Praise:

"Cash never shies away from tough topics and themes; however, in The History Major his exploration of certain thematic elements goes deeper than usual. His love of history combined with a keen sense of human nature has provided a riveting story that deals with trauma, grief, acceptance, and finding inner strength. Cash has created a multi-dimensional experience between plot and character through the exploration of dreams and historical figures. He has created a riveting sense of perplexity that lingers long after the last page and author's note.”—Bianca Schulze, Book Reviewer

"Cash intermingles beauty and violence ...It's smartly ambiguous and open to interpretation, and some may delight in a second (or third) read." —Kirkus Reviews

Author Q&A:

1) Where do you find inspiration for your stories/characters?

The stories come to me everywhere. I can be watching the news, or talking to another parent at school. This story came to me when we went on my old college campus to set up a summer course for my son. It's a school that is on an old estate. I looked at the rolling hills and the story just came to me.

2) Is there a particular story line you haven’t written, but want to down the road?

I'd like to tackle aliens next.

3) What is up next for you in regards to books/projects?

I'm working on another ghost story. This time it takes place in the Hamptons.

4) Have you always wanted to be a writer, or was this something you chose after another career path?

I always wanted to be a writer and I have been writing since high school.

5) If you experience writer’s block, what helps get you back to writing?

I put on music and let it wash over me. Usually an idea will take root.

6) You are in an elevator and can pitch your new book.  In less than 5 sentences, please share about your book and why someone should pick it up.

The History Major is a story about perception. What your think you know will turn out completely different by the time you get to the end. It’s a study of how history shapes our lives in ways you'll never guess.

And, now for a fun giveaway, where one lucky reader could win either a copy of Michael's book or even a new laptop.  Good luck!
