"It has an undeniable sense of "just kidding" joy to it, which remains infectious...and country-western fans will love seeing vintage performances by Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Donna Fargo, Charlie Rich, Dottie West and
Hank Williams Jr."

SETTLE BACK FOR PICKIN' AND GRINNIN', TALL TALES AND
A STAR-SPANGLED LINE-UP FROM THE ORIGINAL DOWN-HOME COUNTRY VARIETY SHOW

I was first introduced to Minnie Pearl, Grandpa Jones and Archie Campbell back when I was six years old.  Even though I was not old enough to see the original airing of the Hee Haw show, my father had recorded the show on VHS tapes and would watch them when he came home from a police detail at night time to relax.  I was able to spend quality time with my dad as he watched this and other shows from the 70's, and loved watching him laugh.

This show was also my introduction to many great country stars including Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, George Jones, Hank William Jr., all who I still listen today.  And, whenever a song comes on the radio from these country greats, I can't help but think back to the days when I would cuddle up next to my dad and watch the Hee Haw show with him.

I was excited when I was recently asked to review the new The Hee Haw Collection, as I knew just the person to ask to watch the 3-DVD collection with me...my dad. When he came to visit recently to spend time with the girls, I surprised him with the DVD collection after the girls went down for a nap.  He smiled when he saw the boxed set, not just because it was a favorite show of his, but also because he remembered watching this show with me when I was little.

As the girls slept, we sat together on the couch and watch a few episodes.  And, just like back in the day, we found ourselves smiling and laughing together as we watched this popular variety show of the 60's and 70's.  Even though we haven't made it through all the DVDs yet, we have made a point to sit and watch a few episodes whenever he comes to visit.  My girls woke at the end of the last viewing and sat with us as we watched the show together.  Although they didn't get the jokes, they sure did enjoy the musical performances as they kept getting up to dance around the living room.

If you were a fan of the Hee Haw show back in the day, or know someone who was, why not pick up The Hee Haw Collection this holiday season.  You will love reliving some of your favorite moments from this laugh out loud variety show, filled with a star studded cast, countless comic moments and more.
