Now that Easter is over, we have to start planning for the next big holiday, Mother's Day on May 10th.  And, if you are like and like to get your shopping done early (or at least try to), then I have the perfect gift for you to pick up and share with your mom or that special mother figure in your life.  Recently, I was sent a couple of "Chicken Soup for the Soul: Thanks to My Mom: 101 Stories of Gratitude, Love, and Lessons," which published on March 17th.  Like the other Chicken Soup for the Soul books, this new release is filled with 101 heartwarming stories -- this time...all about mom.  Stories are shared by both men and women, who share stories of love, gratitude and lessons learned from their moms.  The forward is written by country music singer, Jo Dee Messina.

I was able to read this book cover to cover in one evening, as I couldn't put the book down.  I loved reading about how children saw their moms as their best friend, hero, mentor/teacher, etc.  As I read through each of the stories, I couldn't help but think about my mom and how she did an amazing job at raising my two brothers and I.  She chose to become a stay at home mom, so that she could watch us grow and help guide us along the way.  And, now that I am a mom myself, I can't help but laugh when I find myself saying things to my girls that my mom used to tell me, or trying to guide and teach them like I had been.  Being a mom is a full-time job and one that doesn't offer vacation or pay -- but, it will be hard to find a mom who says she doesn't love it, and wouldn't change being a mom for the world.  As soon as I laid eyes on my girls, I fell instantly in love, and continue to love them more and more each day.

Who knows, maybe one day they will share a heartwarming, personal story about me in a future "Chicken Soup for the Soul: Thanks to My Mom" book. :-)  In the meantime, I have thoroughly enjoyed this recent release, and have already started to pass it along to family and friends to read.  And, I already have one gift checked off my list to get my mom.  She loves Chicken Soup for the Soul books, and will love this book just as much as me.  If I find the time, I also plan to write up a story to include the book, so that she will find it when she sits down to read the book, about how much I appreciate everything she has done for me, and how I love her so! :-)
