This past weekend my husband and I left the girls with my parents and drove into NYC for the day.  While it is only a 2 hour drive from our house, since welcoming the girls back in 2010 and 2011, we haven't driven there.  Before the girls, my husband and I would take the train in for a weekend getaway or even just for the day to check out the different stores and restaurants that NYC has to offer.  I would always be able to get my sweet tooth fix there.  It was so nice to be back in the city and shop without the kids in toe.  I was able to get a start on my holiday shopping, and even found time to stop by the Best Buy store to play around with the phones, laptops and other tech gadgets and toys.  I have been good this year, and hope Santa noticed, as I came home with a few more items to add to my wish list. :-)

Best Buy hosted a similar in-store experience last year, which a few friends of mine attended in Chicago and couldn't stop raving about. So, when I heard about Best Buy at 23RD & 6TH CHELSEA in NY being one of the 50 locations, I made a point to leave time this past Saturday to check it out with my husband.

If you love stopping into your local Best Buy to check out the latest and greatest in new technology, then you will want to see if there is a Best Buy near you offering the Intel Experience, and check it out.  So, what is the Best Buy Intel Experience and why is it not to be missed.

Did you know?...

"While most (79%) of Americans are excited about the chance to learn and try out new technologies, half are frustrated by the lack of access to them beyond what they read or see in the media, according to a new study by Intel and Toluna."

"Intel and Best Buy are teaming up to bring new Intel Technology Experience zones to 50 Best Buy stores in major markets across the U.S. The Intel Technology Experience lets customers – from tech enthusiasts to technophobes – play, explore, and be inspired by the power of technology with hands-on activities like 3D printing and virtual reality games. For many, this is the first opportunity to see, touch, and play with exciting new technologies they’ve only heard about."

When you walk inside a participating Best Buy store you will find an area (about 240 square feet) that is dedicated to the Intel Technology Experience.

There are so many things you can check out and do once you enter this area, including building and printing your very own 3D robot, showing off your racing skills on Mars in an augmented reality world, or even becoming a master digital DJ, where you can spin master beats and remix tracks by Ne-Yo.

In addition to these fun interactive stations, you will also be able to check out the latest PC and tablet devices powered by Intel processors.

Best Buy is known for their expert service and unbeatable prices, and when it comes to checking out the Intel Experience, you will be able to have any and all questions answered by specially trained Best Buy Blue Shirts.  This is one reason why I love shopping at Best Buy. While I may be tech savvy, there are some things, like the specs of computers and phones that I need further clarification and explanation of.  I know that when I shop Best Buy, their talented trained staff will have the answers for me, so that I purchase an item without worrying I am getting the wrong one, or not knowing how to use it.

As soon as my husband and I wanted into the Intel Experience area, I have to admit, we were a little flustering -- in a good way.  We wanted to get our hands on everything and try everything out...but, where to start.  Because my husband likes robotics and video gaming, we found ourselves starting at the Mars off road racing station, where we were able to check out the new way to game with Intel-driven augmented reality.

I have to say that out of all the stations set up at the Intel Experience, this off-road racing area was our favorite, and one we kept coming back to. :-)

Next up we become instant digital DJ's, remixing Ne-Yo's hit tracks.  In addition to spinning and remastering his songs, you could also watch Ne-Yo dance across the screen in front of you -- which, I have to say is really cool.

I loved how this Intel Experience Station made you feel like a DJ, even though I have no musical abilities. :-)
Another popular station that we found many customers congregating around was the one where you could create and print out your own 3D robot.

Both kids and adults were getting a kick out of this and seeing their 3D models come to life. While at this station, I couldn't help but think about my girls and how they would loved to have made their own 3D robots.
As we waited for our 3D robots to print out to take home, I glanced down at my phone.  Wow!, we had spent over an hour playing around with the different Intel technology and seeing what new technology is out there.  Knowing that we had to drive 2 hours to get home, so that we could have dinner and put the girls to bed, we wrapped up our fun at the Intel Experience, asked our final questions of the specially trained staff and then went on our way.
After having recently experienced the Intel Experience at Best Buy for myself, I can see why my friends who visited a store last year loved this one of a kind hands on experience.  So, if you plan to be in the NY area during the month of November, why not stop by the Chelsea Best Buy location and check out the Intel Experience for yourself?  Make sure you give yourself enough time to play at each station, so that you get to experience all the new and amazing technology Intel has to offer.  It truly is amazing what innovations are available.  What will they think of next?! :-)
