You know the phrase, "aging gracefully?"  Well, they forget to mention that when aging, your metabolism slows down and foods that you were once able to each and not bat and eye out, knowing you could shed them at gym, seem to stick around, especially around the waist and thigh area. Ugh.

Last year, I shared my weight loss journey, which was a New Year's resolution.  It took me almost all year to finally lose the excess baby weight I had been carrying around since welcoming my girls back in 2010 and 2011.  Back before kids, I never would have imagined how hard it would be to shed pregnancy weight gained.  I thought that by chasing around the kids, the weight would miraculously melt away.  Boy, was I wrong.  This is why those body slimming and girdle type products are popular with moms (both new and seasoned).

I was so proud of myself last year for finally getting down to my pre-pregnancy weight.  And, for the beginning part of 2014, I worked hard to keep the weight off.  But, as is life, things happen, including unexpected illnesses, passing of close family and friends, terrible twos/threes/..., and other life events, that really send your diets and weight loss expectations and goals out the window.  Food has always been a comfort food for me, and whenever I am stressed out, tired, or even bored, I will reach for a snack -- the sweeter or saltier, the better.  This is why I try to keep only healthy snacks in the house, as once you start snacking on unhealthy snacks, it is a slippery slope to slowly adding on the pounds.  And, before you know it, the weight you once lost and were so proud of saying goodbye to, has come back.  How did that happen?

Well, this was the case with me, and some crazy and unexpected ups and downs this past spring/summer.  The pounds I worked so hard to lose last year slowly creeped back, and found their way back around my waist, arms and thighs.  And, no matter how much running around with the girls I did, I couldn't shake them.  I found myself skipping a meal here and there in hopes to lose weight from lower calorie intakes.  But, if you have tried this, you know it doesn't work.  Instead, you find yourself hungry and wanting to grab and eat whatever is in sight.

With two little ones under the age of five, and being a stay-at-home mom, I don't have the luxury or free time to drop everything and head to the gym or an exercise class for an hour or so.  Instead, I have to find creative ways around the house to exercise, while also watching what I eat.  The hardest part of it all is the food shopping, as I take the girls with me, and they always seem to point out the sweet treats and unhealthy snacks, and as we make our way up and down the aisles, these unhealthy snacks land one by one in my cart, and then come home with us, where I can't help but eat them.

One of the perks of being a blogger is being able to try out products and services, in exchange for a honest review.  I think I hit the jackpot with a much needed review opportunity, as I was recently chosen to be a Nutrisystem Blogger.  Well, actually, I have been part of the program for about two months now, and will be sharing my weight loss journey and experience with this weight loss program with you, over the course of the next couple of months, as well as through my social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter).

When I first found out I was chosen to be of the NSNation bloggers program, and would be trying out their My Way Select Favorites plan for three months, I was ecstatic and couldn't wait to share the news with you all.  But, then life happens and the girls got sick, and then I was sick and then more unexpected life events happen, and my draft posts got lost in the mix.  Luckily, I have been keeping a daily journal of my experience with the Nutrisystem over the past 7 weeks , and will be sharing from these entries as part of my upcoming posts.

Stay tuned Friday when I will be sharing about the Nutrisystem Fast 5 with you, which was the kick off of my weight loss journey (7 weeks ago) and initial experience with the Nutrisystem program.
