Walt Disney Records

INTRODUCES THE LEGACY COLLECTION

TO CELEBRATE MILESTONE ANNIVERSARIES
OF BELOVED SOUNDTRACKS

"Walt Disney Records’ newly created line of collectible CDs, Walt Disney Records The Legacy Collection, celebrates the anniversaries of Disney’s most cherished and classic properties that have been enchanting audiences for generations.  Through 2015, Walt Disney Records will celebrate 12 anniversaries including “Pinocchio” (75th), “Fantasia” (75th), “Cinderella” (65th), “Lady and the Tramp” (60th), “Sleeping Beauty” (55th), “Mary Poppins” (50th), “The Lion King” (20th) and “Toy Story”  (20th), among others.

To honor these musical landmarks, Walt Disney Records The Legacy Collection will feature the beloved original soundtracks, plus valuable documentary content that tells the story behind the music.  Each album will feature newly created artwork from Lorelay Bove, a visual development artist at Walt Disney Animation Studios (“Tangled,” “Winnie the Pooh,” “Wreck-It Ralph”).  The illustrations, inspired by the original properties, will celebrate Disney’s rich heritage and create a unified look for the entire collection.

The first release in the series was The Lion King, a two-disc set featuring the original motion picture soundtrack, 30 minutes of previously unreleased score, plus liner notes by Don Hahn (producer) and Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer, that hit store shelves back on June 24th."

----

Call me old fashioned, but I simply love all the classic Disney movies, especially Mary Poppins.  There is something about these family favorite movies that will last the test of time, and will continue to adults and children singing songs from these hit movies for years to comes.  Come on, don't tell me that when you hear a song like A Spoonful of Sugar (Julie Andrews), that you don't smile. :-)  Try finding an appropriate lyric in this or other Disney songs -- impossible.  While these songs will not find their way onto main stream radio anytime soon, fans of these movie will have full listening to these recent CD collection releases, while browsing through the valuable documentary content.

I was recently sent the three recent Walt Disney The Legacy Collection CD releases and have been loving listening to each of the CDs in the car when taking the girls to school in the AM. Not only is the music relaxing, but it is a great way to share music of Disney movies I grew up watching and love, with my girls.  I can't tell you how happy I get when I hear my girls singing along in the backseat or asking me to replay a song from one of these CDs.

When I first heard about the upcoming release of the Walt Disney The Legacy Collection CDs, I was so happy, as i would finally be able to add soundtrack CDs to my favorite Disney movies to my growing collection, which I plan to one day pass down to my girls.  I never expected, however, that each of these collections would be filled with so many songs.  Good luck in finding your favorite songs, as they will also become favorites once you start listening to these CDs.
