I have been on the Nutrisystem challenge for almost 12 weeks now (9 weeks to go), and love the results.  While I was hoping to have lost more, 14 lbs isn't bad, especially seeing that I am over 30 yrs. old, and know my metabolism has slowed down.  If I was in my twenties, I could have skipped a meal or two or worked out harder, and found myself loosing more weight at a quicker rate.  But, as I have gotten older, I have come to accept myself and my body - I guess you do that after you become a mom and see the changes pregnancy has your -- including  the extra skin around your belly.

But, as I go into the final week and half, I find myself getting a little nervous, as we are also getting into the holidays, where food will be in abundance and it will be hard to stick to a diet.  This week, I will be hosting family and friends for Thanksgiving, where there will be turkey, ham and all the fixes, as well as an assortment of breads and pastries -- my weaknesses.  I will not lie, I am a little nervous and scared, as I would hate to gain back all the weight I have worked so hard in losing these past few months.

Are you currently on a diet plan, or have you found yourself in the same boat in years past, when the holidays roll around and you have to be "good" and watch what you eat, or try to stay on your diet?  If so, how did you handle it?  It is funny how food can play mind games with you, or make you feel relaxed or ease stress.  Just last month, we were dealing with the girls and hand, foot and mouth they picked up at school.  If that wasn't enough, Savannah's temperature spiked and she had a febrile seizure.  This whole ordeal and trying to watch her like a hawk for the week or so later really took a toll emotionally and physically.  I found myself drinking more coffee to stay awake and would skip a meal, only to double up at the next meal, or snack throughout the day.  Not a good thing, as I found in just one week alone, that I gained 4 1/2 pounds back.  Wow!  It felt like it took forever to lose weight, but in a matter of days, I was able to put it back on.

I will say that now that things have finally gone back to normal and the girls are feeling better, that I am working hard in the final weeks of the Nutrisystem My Way Select Favorites program to shred the weight I gained back, plus try and reach my goal of 20 lbs. in total weight loss.  It would be a great feeling to end 2014 on a high note, and be able to get back into outfits I have had to move to the back of the closet, in hopes of being able to fit into again, one day.

The good thing is that my family knows that I am on a diet and are supporting me.  They will not push desserts on snacks on me, which will be difficult in and of itself for them, as they are Italian and love to eat and see people around them enjoying food, too.  My plan is to have food from the Nutrisystem My Way Select Favorites program for breakfast and dinner.  I will also have a mid-morning shake as these usually fill me up.  Then, I will attempt to have either the stuffed chicken breast from Nutrisystem, or simply a side of vegetables and a small piece of turkey with the family.  I will stay away from starches and breads, and will indulge on a frozen Nutrisystem red velvet cake (which have become my favorite) or ice cream bar, once the dessert table is set up for all to enjoy.

I have the strength and will power and know that I can get through this upcoming stressful week of meal prep, hosting family and friends for a few days, and then the feast itself.  Stay tuned after Thanksgiving, when I will provide my weigh in results, and how Thanksgiving went.

If you are currently on a diet, I wish you luck and am sending positive vibes your way, as you, too, strive to keep on your diet, while seeing all the delicious food around you.  Luckily, the food I have been eating the past few months from Nutrisystem is tasty.

Compared to other diet foods and plans, Nutrisystem offers foods I would normally eat or ask for when dining out, and they don't have a bland or funny after-taste.  And, the portion sizes, snack options and desserts are great, especially for a person who likes to indulge in her sweets. :-)
