We all find ourselves in a rut from time to time...let it be feeling like you have lost direction, or you simply don't put time into little things like your appearance, due to not having "enough time." Before kids, I used to be great with time management and organizational skills. Then, when the girls arrived, I found myself wondering where the day had gone, and finding me to do list growing bigger and bigger, and never seeming to get done. Also, when becoming a stay at home mom, I turned in my business casual attire for comfy pajamas or lounge pants and oversized tees. Who wants to get fancy clothes dirty from sticky fingers, spit up, diaper accidents, etc.? I spend enough time in my day soaking and spot cleaning the girls' clothes to not want to add my "good clothes" to the mix.
In addition to putting away my work clothes in exchange for comfy mom clothes, I also stopped putting time into doing my hair each morning. I used to have long hair, which I would braid, curl, or do in a pretty up-do whether for work, a night out with my husband or just because. It always felt great feeling and looking put together, even if I had no place to go. But, once the girls arrived and my schedules were thrown off, including sleep, the last thing I wanted to do was spend those lucky extra minutes in my day fussing with my hair. To make things easier, this past summer I got a mommy haircut, where I chopped my long hair off and had it cut to my shoulders. It was short enough that I didn't have to worry about fussing with it, but still long enough to pull pack in a ponytail.
I can't tell you how many of my friends and moms I see at my daughter's school and community events have a similar hairstyle. And, like me, they find it easier just to pull their hair back and put in a ponytail -- no fuss, no muss. This is the rut I have fallen into. Each and every day after I shower in the AM, I skip thinking of a fun updo to do with my hair and simply pull back into a low ponytail. Then, I throw on a pairs of comfy jeans and t-shirt and are ready to tackle the day ahead.
But, thanks to a fun sweepstakes from TRESemme, I have been trying out new hairstyles and having fun putting a little extra time into getting ready and my hair each morning. Have you heard about the #TRESemmeTransformation Sweepstakes?
