It Will Be Okay: Trusting God Through Fear and Change

Oh how I wish I had this book right before Savannah started preschool back in Sept., as like her mom and dad, she was a nervous wreck.  For us, we were sad to see her growing up and wondering how she would do with the separation, even if it was only for a few hours, three days a week.  Savannah, on the other hand, didn't want to leave her sister, and was nervous about making new friends, learning new things, and just being in a new place.  Every night leading up to the big day, I would remind her that everything would be okay, and that there are times throughout everyone's life that we experience change and have to deal with fear. From going onto a new grade or school, moving out and being on your own for the first time, or simply switching jobs or having to give a speech, people's nerves and fears can get the best of them.  But, this cute story reminds us that God is always there and never changes.  He is always by our side and watching over, so with him as our rock, there is nothing to be afraid of.

More about the book:

"It Will Be Okay: Trusting God Through Fear and Change will help kids discover that in the end, it really will be okay because we have a God who is good and kind and always with us.
Whether we like it or not, growing up brings change. For many children, this conjures fears that are sometimes real and sometimes imagined. Little Seed and Little Fox are facing changes and brand new circumstances—and they don’t like it one bit! Through this unlikely friendship, children will discover that no matter how new or fearful their circumstances, God is always with them."

It did take a few days for Savannah to get used to preschool.  But, after that, she had a bunch of new friends and loved learning new things.  Now, her fears are a distant memory.  Next up with be Bella once she is potty trained.  This time when we start talking about going off to preschool for a few hours a day, she will not be afraid, as I will share this easy to follow along book, with fun illustrations and remind her that God is always with her, and that she doesn't have to fear anything.  I will also have Savannah talk with her and share how she felt in the beginning, but that it passed quickly and now she loves school.

If you are looking for a perfect books helps little ones deal with change and that will help them not feat new things, then you will want to pick up a copy of "It Will By Okay" by Lysa TerKeurst. This book is very encouraging and will keep kids engaged from start to finish.  I have been reading this book to the girls for a few weeks now, as they keep asking for it at bedtime.  Each and every time I finish reading the last page, Bella is quick to chime in how this is a "great book."  And, you know what?  I couldn't agree with her more! :-)
