Fans of Mercer Mayer Will Love His Two New Board Books Available From Thomas Nelson -- Review and #Giveaway

Disclosure:  I was sent review copies from the publisher in order to write up an honest review.  All views shared are mine and mine alone.

Thomas Nelson

I have been a fan of Mercer Mayer's since I was a child.  And, now that I have children of my own, I love being able to share his stories from books my mom kept to pass down to me, as well as new ones that he continues to release. Being a Tommy Mommy for Thomas Nelson gave me the opportunity recently to review two new board books from Mercer Mayer, which the girls and have enjoyed sharing together.

The first book, "Being Thankful" deals with learning to be thankful for what you have.

Being Thankful, Mercer Mayer

"In Being Thankful, Little Critter isn't getting anything he wants. Gator gets cool brand-new sneakers, while Little Critter is stuck with his boring blue ones. Tiger’s dad has a boat—but not Little Critter’s dad. And even at the ice cream shop, Little Critter can’t enjoy his chocolate ice cream cone because he would rather have a huge ice cream sundae instead. But on a trip to the farm, Grandma shows Little Critter why thankfulness is so important and helps make any situation seem so much happier.
Based on Psalm 107:1this book will show children what gratitude is and why we should be thankful for all of the blessings God has given us."
The second new release from Mercer Mayer is all about forgiveness.

We All Need Forgiveness, Mercer Mayer

"In We All Need Forgiveness, Little Critter is glad he has such nice friends who forgive him when he makes mistakes. But when one of his friends accidentally does something that affects him, Little Critter gets upset and stays angry at his friend for a while. But Little Critter’s pals teach him that saying “it’s okay” helps the person who acted up—and it helps him feel better much sooner.

Just like Mama says, “As God forgives, we must forgive each other.” Based on Matthew 6:14, Little Critter learns why forgiveness helps heal the one who does the forgiving just as much as the one who needs forgiveness."

As a treat this past weekend, I took the girls to Kohl's and bought them a Little Critter plush toy from their Kohl's Care's collection.  Each plush toy, which is a good size, is only $5.00. These two books from Tommy Nelson and pairing them with the plush toy currently available at Kohl's, would make a wonderful gift this holiday season for fans of Mercer Mayer, or as a great bedtime read with cuddle buddy.  My girls love snuggling up next to their new Little Critter pal, while I read these two books to them.  And, each and every time we read these books, I make a point to talk about the lesson in each , and how the girls can apply them to their own lives. Isn't it great when you can have a discussion with your children about positive messages, while also hearing them talk about the story and what they learned.  You can see how they interpret the story, and how the lesson resonates with them.  I love when this happens, as it makes bonding over books that much more special.

To learn more about these two new board books from Mercer Mayer, available, visit the Thomas Nelson website here -- http://www.thomasnelson.com/.  These two books would be a great addition to your family's growing Mercer Mayer collection, or even as stocking stuffers this upcoming holiday season -- that is if you can keep them hidden that long. :-)
