Are you a dog lover or know someone who is? If so, then you will want to pick up a copy of the new Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Dog Did What? book, which hits store shelves on August 19th.

I was recently sent a copy of this book to read, and found myself not being able to put it down.  I have been a dog lover since a child, and have two rescue dogs, which we treat like family.

This new release shares stories about the companionship a dog offers, the unconditional love we get from man's best friend, and how pets heal.  I experienced the healing of a pet firsthand when I battled cancer back in 2008.  Right before I started treatment, we rescued Abby, who stayed by my side through my whole treatment, while I stayed at my parents.  Even on the toughest of days, she would snuggle next to me and give me extra wet kisses.  Her unconditional love really helped keep my spirits up and keep me strong so that I could be my cancer.  Unfortunately, a few years later she had a seizure which paralyzed her.  And, just like she was by my side, I was by her side snuggling up close to her, as we said our final goodbyes.
This book and its stories will make you laugh, cry and think back on those fond memories you have our your childhood dog or dog who currently keeps your feet warm.  You will find yourself relating to the "good dog/bad dog" stories" and smiling all the way, while not wanting to put down the book.

In addition to offering 101 wonderful heartfelt stories about our furry friends, it is nice to know that royalties from book sales go to support the American Humane Society.  So, if you are looking for a good book to read, or need a gift for a dog lover, this book would be perfect.  Like so many other Chicken Soup for the Soul books, this is one book I will be passing around so that family and friends can read and we can talk about our favorite stories, as well as book I will pick up time and again to read and enjoy.  I can't wait to hear what you think of it.
