"Cinedigm (NASDAQ: CIDM) and Scholastic released THE MAGIC SCHOOL BUS DVD+BOOK: TAKES A DIVE on July 22nd. For the first time, fans can own a special DVD and book bundle focusing exclusively on ocean exploration with Ms. Frizzle and The Magic School Bus gang.

Featuring four full episodes of the Emmy® Award-winning television series along with an 80-page book on ocean exploration, this is the newest addition to the popular line of THE MAGIC SCHOOL BUS DVDs. Based on the beloved children’s classic book line by Joanna Cole and Bruce Degen, this broadcast series explores everything from the tiniest cell to the largest galaxy using fun, kid-friendly adventures.

DVD – Journey to the depths of the ocean with four Friz-tastic episodes including Goes to Mussel Beach, Gets Swamped, Takes a Dive and For Lunch. Explore everything from coral reefs, tidal zones and wetlands with Ms. Frizzle, Liz and the rest of the gang in the greatest adventures under the sea!
BOOK – What starts as a class trip to the aquarium ends in the depths of the ocean, where the class has to escape from the jaws of a great white shark. Ms. Frizzle teaches the class all about different shark species, including the goblin shark, the angel shark, and the enormous whale shark."
Here is more about each full-length episode found on this DVD:
  • GOES TO MUSSEL BEACH: Ms. Frizzle’s Uncle Shelby wants the class to look after his beachfront property. The kids soon discover that this “luxurious” accommodation is only a tiny spot on the shoreline. Topic: Tidal Zones
  • GETS SWAMPED: Should Walkerville get rid of the swamp and replace it with a new shopping mall? The class learns that the swamp is an important habitat and natural water filter, but the town council’s not convinced until…FLOOD! Topic: Wetlands
  • TAKES A DIVE: When Wanda discovers that one of Ms. Frizzle’s ancestors was Redbeard the Pirate, she wants to follow the treasure map he left. The map leads the class to a coral reef where they learn firsthand that life there is risky. Topic: Coral Reefs

One bonus episode: The Magic School Bus For Lunch, the class takes a trip through Arnold’s digestive system.
My Thoughts:
Are you familiar with "The Magic School Bus" series?  If not, it is about a teacher called Ms. Fizzle who takes her students on fun filled adventures through the human body, to Outer Space and even into the deep sea to explore underwater life.  Their out of this world field trips are made possible with a magic school bus.  And, once they step onto the bus, the kids, thanks to Ms. Fizzle are in for fun and adventure, as they learn about new things through scientific exploration and discovery.
Since I first watched episodes from this popular series geared towards children ages 4-9 years of age, I have become a fan and have made a point to pick up additional DVDs to add to our growing "Magic School Bus" series collection.  My plan is to share these DVDs with my girls when they enter school and start learning about how the world works and are introduced to planets, inhabitants on land and in the water, as well as the human body. Through fun-filled adventures shared by Ms. Fizzle and her students, my girls will be able to understand science and math concepts better.  This series does an excellent job in illustrating how physics, chemistry, biology and even math come in play in everyday life.  Scientific term used are age appropriate and describes so that young viewers can understand and follow along.
My girls loved this new DVD and book, and I know as they get older they will want to watch this and other "Magic School Bus" DVDs over and over again.  Even though kids are still on summer vacation and really don't want to be learning or studying things, this DVD is perfect as not only will they be entertained with adventurous stories, but they will also learn at the same time.  Thanks to "The Magic School Bus" series, both boys and girls will love learning about science and math, as they take out of this world fun field trips with Ms. Fizzle and her students.  If only there was actually a magic school bus?  I would definitely want to go for a ride...wouldn't you? :-)
I had originally viewed "The Magic School Bus: Takes a Dive" DVD a few years ago, but at that time it didn't come with a Book like this special edition set down.  Back then, I was watching the fun-filled episodes with my niece and nephew.  Now, I get to enjoy the water-themed science episodes along with the bonus episode about the digestive system with my girls, and start them early on loving science.  I used to love science when I was in school and received a degree in Public Health in college.
