If your kids enjoy the other animated planes movie, then they will love this, as it is similar in nature. This movie stars Ace, a hot shot rescue plane, along with his trusty co-pilot, Fred, and other rescue heroes which are made up of planes and robots. Usually Ace and the others are called on when a plane is in trouble and needs help. Ace thinks he can handle a solo rescue mission, and defies orders. This results in the tragic death of the commander, Colonel.
As a result of the Colonel's passing, Ace walks away from being a rescue hero, as he is afraid of failing again and is also afraid. So, he and Fred seek out another career -- carrying cargo for the coal mines. When a cargo plane finds itself in trouble, it is up to Ace and Fred to step up and help rescue the plane. But, will Ace do it? Don't worry, I will not ruin the ending, which adds another twist and turn. :-)
I will say that we have had this movie for about a week now, and have watched it over a dozen times. The first few times I would sit down with the girls and talk about the lessons learned from the film, including the importance of friendship, teamwork, following instructions/orders and never giving up. This is definitely a great family film the entire family will enjoy watching. Both my husband and I enjoyed it, as the animation was great and the story line was full of adventure.
