Excited to Announce that I am an Ambassador for Discover Boating for the 2nd Year in a Row! #DiscoverBoating #MC #Sponsored

Disclosure:  I participated in an Ambassador Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting #MC for Discover Boating. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

I am so excited to announce that I am an Ambassador for Discover Boating! for the second year in a row. :-)  I had so much fun last year sharing past boating memories with you, as well as new ones my family and I experienced while out on the water in  NH and RI.  And, this year, we have so many wonderful trips planned with family and friends, that are sure to top last year's.

"Discover Boating is the U.S. recreational boating industry’s nonprofit awareness program to help people get on the water to experience the fun of boating. For those looking to get their feet wet, DiscoverBoating.com is an unbiased online resource to explore the enjoyment and accessibility of the boating lifestyle. Packed with easy, interactive features to familiarize people with all aspects of life on the water, DiscoverBoating.com offers a boat selector guide, cost comparison tool, renting options, favorite boating destinations, links to education courses – even nautical lingo and how-to videos. Plus, DiscoverBoating.com offers tools and information for experienced boaters looking to learn more. "

I don't know about you, but I can't help but count down the days until summer comes.  While kids are counting down the days for school to be out for the summer months, I am most looking forward to loading the family and a weekend bag into the car and driving up to NH where my family has a vacation home on Lake Winnipesaukee, or down to Westerly, RI, to enjoy time out on the water.

There is nothing more invigorating and fun, than feeling the cool breeze and mist of the water when riding in a boat.  And, I love to watch the girls smile, as their develop a love for boating, just like I have, starting when I was child.

And, after visiting the DiscoverBoating.com’s homepage and watching a few videos from their Stories of Discovery , I am itching to grab our stuff and head out on the water. The 4th of July can't get here fast enough. These documentary-style videos feature real boaters, sharing their boating memories.  You can watch country music artist, Jake Owen, share his personal stories of how boating impacts his life, as well as the following touching short film, GoodRun, about a man’s life journey by boat. Get the tissues ready if you cry easier. Just saying! :-)

Even though we love being out on the water, my husband and I still holding off until the girls are a little bit older to purchase a boat.  Right before I started my cancer treatment, we sold our boat to help save for medical bills and post cancer treatments costs.  While I was sad to give up our boat, I knew that it wouldn't be forever.  And, many of our family and friends have boats, so  we are never without an invitation to go boating come the summer. :-)  And, if we find ourselves wanting to spend the day out on the water, we don't hesitate to rent a boat for the day.

Did you know?... "Americans are taking to the water in record numbers: Of the 241.9 million adults in the US in 2013, 36.6%, or 88.5 million, participated in recreational boating at least once during 2013 – one of the highest percentages on record."  Source:  National Marine Manufacturers Association

It wasn't until we didn't have our boat anymore that I realized that you could rent a boat.  Right now this is the more convenient and economical way for us to enjoy summer boating, as we don't have to pay for docking fees or maintaining a boat when not using it.  Close friends have also found renting a boat to be a good way to get a sense what what boating life would be, and the type of boat they would like to invest in.

Stay tuned in the weeks ahead, as I will be sharing fun photos and new memories of our time spent out on the water, as part of my 2014 Discover Boating! Ambassadorship.

In the meantime, why not visit the Discover Boating website?  Here you will find a handy boat selector guide, testing the waters, renting options, a cost comparison tool (my personal favorite), and even favorite boating destinations, well as other guide tools and information for experienced boaters looking to learn more.  Head on over to Discover Boating to learn more, and to start planning your summer trips out on the water with family.  Like they say, "Life's Better on the Water," and I have to agree with them.  I have so many wonderful childhood memories out on the water and am making new ones now that I have a family of my own. :-)

Does your family own a boat, or enjoy renting one to get out on the water during the summer months?  I would love to hear about your favorite memories when it comes to boating with your family. So, be sure to leave a comment below.  It can be anything from childhood fishing trips with your grandfather, to buying your first family boat and spending quality time with your children on it during the warm summer months.  Any big trips planned this summer especially for your family out on your boat?  I can't wait to hear about them! :-)
