Mother's Day Gift Idea -- Hot Teas from Teatulia That Also Taste Great Iced (Review)

Organic Single Garden Teas

Back in January, I introduced you all to Teatulia, when I featured their Organic Single Garden Teas as part of my Valentine's Day gift guide.  If you missed my post, you can read it here -- http://www.inspiredbysavannah.com/2014/01/valentines-day-gift-ideas-teatulia.html.  This ended up being a popular post, as I had many readers send me emails telling me that they had either ordered these teas for themselves or to give as a gift, or had it on their wish list for an upcoming birthday and Mother's Day. :-)  So, when I was putting together my Mother's Day Gift Guide last month, Teatulia kept popping in my head, and I just had to reach out and see about reviewing more of their product line.

The kind folks at Teatulia suggested that I give their hot teas a try, as they are also great iced.  Just hearing how Teatulia's teas are so versatile and how their flavors change when enjoyed hot or iced, I couldn't resist sharing another review. :-)  And, within a few days of talking via email, their popular iced tea sampler pack, which includes the black, Tulsi, and lemongrass tea, arrived at my doorstep, ready for me to try.

Chill out with three of our favorite teas to enjoy over ice. With brisk Black Tea, invigorating Tulsi Infusion and refreshing Lemongrass, our iced tea sampler pack features:
  • 3-pack of 16ct eco-canisters (48 teabags total)
  • Each Eco-Canister contains 16 corn silk pyramid teabags each filled with 2 grams of whole leaf tea
  • Each whole leaf pyramid can be brewed 2 or 3 times
  • Pyramid teabags allow extra space for leaves to infuse, bringing more flavor into each cup
  • 100% organic tea, direct from our single garden in Bangladesh
  • Environmentally responsible packaging, made from compostable materials
  • Buy now for only $23.99

And, perfect timing as we were experiencing a heat wave here in the Northeast.  Ahh, just kidding...but, it was 67 degrees for 2 days straight, which for New England residents is t-shirt and shorts weather. :-)

I first tried brewing up a hot cup of the Tulsi tea from Teatulia.  Wanting to see if there was a difference in flavor when iced, I followed the instructions on the box, where it says you can use one tea bag to brew up two cups of tea (great!), and iced the second cup.  The flavor profiles are different and unique once iced, which I was amazed to find out.  I have been drinking tea for years, and have sampled my fair of tea brands, but I have never experienced the change in flavor profile by icing a cup of tea.

The Tulsi Infusion tea was rich in flavor, and had a nice spice kick to it, which I wasn't expecting. It really helped wake me up mid-morning, as I sipped away at this black tea blend.  And, for the next few days I continued to sample this and the other two teas both hot and iced.

I was surprised to find how much I enjoyed the Lemongrass Herbal Infusion tea, as I thought this would have been my least favorite, as I am not into citrus flavored teas.  But, from the first sip, I was hooked on this crisp, refreshing tea, with lemon essence.  And,being naturally caffeine-free, I didn't feel bad having two cups, as I knew I wouldn't have to deal with a caffeine jolt or crash.

I had already sampled the Black Tea flavor during my Jan. review, but couldn't help enjoy this one again, as it offered hints of honey, which I love.  You can't go wrong with a full-bodied tea like this, that has a surprised sweet finish.  This tea, too, was great enjoyed hot and iced, and tasted different when preparing the two ways.

If you are a fan of iced teas, or simply love tea like I do, then you should check out Teatulia's popular iced tea sampler pack.  And, like I said, each whole leaf bag can be brewed twice, making the 16 tea bags in each canister go a long way.  I have found this to be convenient for unexpected guests who stop by when I am preparing a hot cup of tea, as they can enjoy a cup, too, without having to go through the hassle of using another tea bag. :-)
