My Thoughts:

I loved the positive message in this movie about being different -- "Different isn't bad.  It is special, like a snowflake."  And, boy is Snowflake, the white gorilla different, yet so lovable and cute.  My girls and I just finished watching this new DVD which released yesterday, and they can't stop asking for their own white gorilla for a pet. Oh boy! :-)

The premise of the story is simple, Snowflake doesn't like being different and wanders into the city to find a circus and magic potion that will make her "normal."  But, a loose gorilla in the city leads to a wild adventure the whole family will enjoy.  Many of the characters are voiced by famed celebrities like David Spade, Ariana Grande, Christopher Lloyd, to name a few.  I love watching animated movies like this and figuring out who is lending their voice to the different characters.  And, when you have comedians like David Spade, you are in for a real treat.

The story is easy to understand and follow, especially for young children.  And at only 86 minutes running time, flows nicely and keeps even the youngest of viewers engaged from start to finish.  Once you start watching this movie, you will find yourself hoping that Snowflake will realize that it is alright being different and that her differences are what make her special.  I love discussing movies and their themes with the kids after we watch a movie, and this one is perfect for kids who are going through that awkward stage or feel like they are different.  What a great way to show kids young and old that different isn't bad.

This is one movie that my family will be enjoying over and over again, for years to come.  If you are looking for a great family movie to watch this upcoming weekend with your kids, why not consider buying or renting Snowflake The White Gorilla?  You will fall in love with Snowflake and all his zoo friends, as you journey on a fun-filled adventure of self discovery and realization that a person's difference are what make them unique and special.
