Disclosure:  I was sent a review copy from the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  All views shared are mine and mine alone.

This live action teen mermaid dramedy is the spin-off to the #1 ranked TeenNick television series H2O: JUST ADD WATER. The series launched on Netflix in July 2013 to overwhelming response, with nearly 300K consumer ratings giving it 4.5 out of 5 stars!

"MAKO MERMAIDS is the new series spin-off of the smash hit H2O - JUST ADD WATER. Real-life mermaids Sirena, Nixie and Lyla are part of a mermaid pod, which lives in the waters of Mako Island. It is their job to protect the Moon Pool and guard it from trespassers. But on the night of a full moon, the mischievous mermaid girls neglect their duties. Suddenly sixteen-year-old land-dweller Zac enters the Moon Pool and is given a fish-like tail and amazing powers. The girls must venture onto land and take back Zac‘s powers - or risk being cast out forever!"

My Thoughts:

Were your tweens and teens fans of TeenNick's #1 ranked series, H20: Just Add Water?  My two nieces couldn't get enough of this show, and had a blast reviewing the shows DVDs when they received.  so, when they heard about Netflix launching a spin-off to this popular teen mermaid dramedy, they made sure to tune in and watch, along with 300K other viewers.

I had seen a handful of this new show's episodes on Netflix when the girls came to visit, and could see why they loved this live action teen series.  I have to admit, I found it entertaining.

So, when I was recently sent Mako Mermaids: An H20 Adventure Season 1, Volume 1 DVD to review, I knew just the girls to ask to help me review.  My nieces were excited and couldn't wait to have sleepover weekend, so that we could watch the first 13 episodes in this series, as well as the bonus cast interviews.  We had a blast reliving the first season of this teen hit, and the girls can't wait for Easter as I told them I would get them the second volume, so that we can watch the remaining episodes (14-26).

If you are still trying to figure out what to get for you tween/teen for Easter, why not surprise them with these two new volumes with make up the Mako Mermaids: An H20 Adventure Season 1.
