AGAINST THE WILD BRINGS THE UNFORGETTABLE WILDERNESS ADVENTURE OF TWO SIBLINGS TO AUDIENCES ON DVD AND DIGITAL DOWNLOAD – MARCH 11, 2014

"Families from coast-to-coast will come along on a breathtaking and uplifting wilderness adventure when Anchor Bay Entertainment unleashes Against the Wild on DVD and digital download for the first time. The action-packed feature film tells the dramatic tale of two siblings and their Alaskan Malamute, who must make an emergency landing when their small plane has engine problems. They find themselves in a beautiful but potentially dangerous natural environment that they must overcome together. Written and directed by Richard Boddington, starring CJ Adams (The Odd Life of Timothy GreenDan in Real Life), Erin Pitt(Silent Hill: Revelation 3DCamp Rock 2: The Final Jam and the upcoming American Girl: Isabelle Dances into the Spotlight) and Natasha Henstridge (“She Spies,” The Whole Nine Yards) and co-starring John Tench (Tooth Fairy), the film makes its national retail and digital debut on March 11, 2014.

A gripping adventure for the whole family, Against the Wild (SRP $24.98) begins with siblings Zach (Adams) and Hannah (Pitt) traveling by seaplane with Chinook, their Alaskan Malamute, to visit their father (Ted Whittall of “Beauty & The Beast”) for the weekend. When their plane encounters engine trouble, the pilot is forced to make an emergency landing in the woods in the middle of nowhere. As they travel on foot to seek help, Zach, Hannah and their loyal companion come face-to-face with the challenges of the wilds – from wolves and grizzly bears to forest fires. Using all the wilderness skills they know – and with some help from Chinook, thesiblings must work together to overcome each obstacle and conquer the ultimate goal – returning home again.

An exciting, fast-paced adventure with beautiful cinematography and a stirring musical score performed by a live 65-piece orchestra in Prague, Against the Wild will keep the whole family on the edge of their seat from start to finish.

DVD Special Features: Outtakes and the Music of Against the Wild

Against the Wild
has been approved for all ages by the Dove Foundation, which awarded the film with 5/5 Doves, and recommends it as “a terrific film for the entire family!.”

My Thoughts:

This was yet another great family friendly movie we were able to enjoy watching this weekend, while laid up with the stomach bug.  Being a dog-loving family, we love watching movies that star animals, especially dogs.  So, when we saw Chinook, a beutiful Alaskan Malamute appear on the screen for the firs time we were all in love. Bella kept asking if we could get a dog like Chinook.  But, my husband told her we couldn't get a big dog like this one because of our 8 lb. Maltese/Silky Terrier mix, Lily, would not like it. I love big dogs like this, but always lean towards tiny ones when it comes to rescuing them.  They are easier to snuggle with. :-)

From the get to this family friendly movie was action packed and pulled everyone in.  And, as the story progressed with siblings Hannah and Zach, along with their dog, Chinook, trying to make their way out of the wilderness unharmed, you couldn't help but find yourself on the edge of your seat. While you know that they will get out, just going through the different motions with them, as they come face to face with wolves and grizzy bears, you just want them to be reunited with their parents.

In addition to the children being reuinited with their parents, who are separated, viewers will be happy to see their relationship which was strained has become stronger, as they had to band together to find their children.  We will definitely be watching this movie again and again, and I can't wait to pass it along to friends and family, and wait to hear what they they think of it.  I know it will be a hit!
