My Thoughts:

It takes having the house hit with the stomach bug to catch up on some recent DVD releases.  And, this past weekend, we took full advantage of feeling lousy, by cuddling up with the girls on the couch to watch some great family friendly movies.  While the girls were sleeping for 1000 to 1: The Cory Weissman Story, my husband and I couldn't help but sit up and take notice of this amazing film and story about defying the odds.

Prior to receiving a copy of this movie to review, I had not heard of Cory Weissman?  Have you?  Being a fan of Beau Bridges and his work, I was eager to see this movie, and learn about Cory and his inspirational movie.

Just watch this trailer to see what is in store for you and your family when you sit down to watch this movie:

If you cry easily at movies, both sad and happy ones, you will want to have a box of tissues next to you.  My husband always gets a kick out of me sobbing away as I watch movies.  And, since having the girls, I cry at almost everything, including some of the girls animated shows.  :-)

I love when inspirational movies really move you, way beyond tears. When you find yourself in awe at what you have just seen and wonder how someone could go through this or perform in such a way, you can't help but want to talk about it, especially with your children.
The story of Cory Weissman is one filled with determination and courage, after he suffers a stroke.  You never expect children (including those in college) to suffer things like a stroke.  But, instead of giving up, Corey fought back through a series of surgeries, rehabs and setbacks, and beat the odds, 1000 to 1.

If you are looking for a great family friendly movie that has substance and is based on a true story, you will want to check to 1000 to 1.  I have already begun passing this movie around to family and friends to watch, and everyone agrees that it is a 5 star flick, that will be enjoyed over and over again.  And, we all marvel at what Cory Weissman was able to overcome after suffering a debilitating stroke. He never gave up, and his story is truly one that will inspire and move you.
