Disclosure:  I was sent samples from the vendor in order to write up an honest review. All views shared are mine and mine alone.

"Legendary American artist and writer Richard Scarry wrote and illustrated more than 300 books, which have sold over 200 million copies worldwide! His son Richard Scarry, Jr. has created original illustrations for this series, remaining faithful to his father's style, much-loved characters, and sense of humor.

One, Two, AH-CHOO! (Sterling Children’s Books; February 2014) and Snow Dance (Sterling Children’s Books; February 2014) are two of the upcoming additions to our Richard Scarry’s Great Big Schoolhouse series.

In One, Two, AH-CHOO! meet Huckle and Lowly, two cool cats who endeavor to take care of all the sick cats at school.

Down comes one flake.
Down come some more.
See the snow, snow!

In Snow Dance reunite with Huckle and his shiny new red sled as he and his buddies try to make it snow! Children ages 3—6 will be delighted by the colorful illustrations and lovable characters!"

My Thoughts:

We received advanced copies of these two books over the holidays, and the girls can't get enough of them.  I grew up enjoying Richard Scarry books, and was happy to find my mom had kept my collection so that I could pass them down to my children.  So, as soon as the girls saw Huckle and Lowly, they couldn't wait for bedtime so that I could read these two books to them.

Were you a fan of Richard Scarry books growing up?  Or, do your children love these books?  If so, you will definitely want to check them out when they become available in February.  The colorful illustrations will keep young children engaged.  And, while my girls aren't reading on their own yet, I know that when the time comes to pull out beginner books, that these will be among the selection.  With large print words and an easy to follow story line, beginner readers will love being able to learn to read with the help of Richard Scarry books.  If they find themselves stumbling on a word, they simply have to look at the fun illustrations to help them read.  I loved this as a child, and know that when the time comes for my girls to start learning how to read, these books will come in handy.  But, in the meantime, I love cuddling up right before nap time or bed time and reading about Huckle, Lowly, Sally Cat and other fun loving characters Richard Scarry fans have come to love, with my girls, and seeing their eyes light up with excitement each and every time I read these books to them.  The stories never get old, and they continually to ask for these two books in particular when it comes to bedtime reader.  Of the two, my girls really love "One, Two, Ah-Choo!" as they love pretending to sneeze when they see the words "Ah-Choo!" on each page.  And, I can't help but smile as they giggle after they make the sound. :-)

So, make a point to pick up these two new Richard Scarry books from Sterling Children's Books this February, to surprise your child(ren) with.  They will surely become favorites in your house, as they have mine. :-)

Happy reading!
