What is it with the Baldwin brothers always showing up in romantic or even holiday themed movies?  Just this past Christmas I lost count of how many times I saw them in a Christmas movie either on Hallmark Channel or another family-friendly channel.  While I oftentimes find myself scratching my head and wondering why they couldn't have cast another actor, I do have to say that William Baldwin and Stephen Baldwin fit well with the two family-friendly movies, which will release on Jan. 21st from Cinedigm -- "I'm in Love with a Church Girl, featuring Stephen Baldwin" and "Be My Valentine," with William Baldwin.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get my husband to sit and watch these movies with me this past Friday Night, my parents were in town visiting the girls, so I was able to enjoy these two movies with my mom.  As I sat watching each movie, I couldn't help but remember back to when I was single and Valentine's Day would roll around.  I would get together with my other single girlfriends and we would have a slumber party with wine and all the sweets and junk food we could find, and watch romantic movies like things.  The plots were predictable, but were still enjoyable to watch.  And, as I sat with my mom, we couldn't help but let out "ahhs" whenever a sappy or lovey dovey scene came on.  :-)

Out of the two movies releasing soon from Cinedigm, I have to say that my favorite was "Be My Valentine" starring William Baldwin and Natalie Brown.  I remember watching this on the Hallmark Channel before and loving it.  Now, I own it and can watch whenever I want -- including during the upcoming Valentine's Day holiday, when tons of romantic movies will be playing on television. :-)

If you love Hallmark Channel movies or are looking for some great chick movies to watch with your girlfriends this Valentine's Day, why not check out "Be My Valentine" or "I'm in Love with a Church Girl," which features rapper Ja Rule, who gives a great performance.

Here is more about the two upcoming releases --

I'm in Love with a Church Girl

Synopsis:

"A heart-warming story about the transformative power of love and redemption, I’m In Love With A Church Girl debuts on DVD, Blu-ray, VOD and digital January 14 from Cinedigm (NASDAQ: CIDM), following its successful theatrical release this fall.  Based on the real-life events of executive producer Galley Molina, the film stars Jeff “Ja Rule” Atkins (Once Upon A Time In Brooklyn), Adrienne Bailon (The Coalition, The Cheetah Girls), Stephen Baldwin (The Usual Suspects), Vincent Pastore (“The Sopranos”) and Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs). The film, the first from RGM-NewBreed, received the coveted Dove Foundation “Family Approved” seal of approval, including a review that reads in part, “this one should not be missed.” The film was executive-produced by RGM-NewBreed founder and CEO Galley Molina along with vice president and Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Israel Houghton, known around the world as worship leader for Pastor Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church, America’s largest congregation.

Miles Montego (Atkins) is a retired high-level drug trafficker who has gone legitimate—though he has not yet left his old friends and his old lifestyle behind. When he meets Vanessa (Bailon), a “church girl” in every sense of the word, he is drawn to her spirituality even though she’s nothing like the girls he’s used to dating.  As Miles struggles to stay on the right side of the law, both he and Vanessa find that their faith in God— and each other—is tested to its limits.

An inspiring story about God’s power, the I’m In Love With A Church Girl Blu-ray and DVD include a “making of” featurette, deleted scenes and an inside look at the life and story of  -  the real Miles Montego."
