Octonauts: Here Come the Octonauts!

"Dive into the New Year and into adventure with everyone’s favorite underwater explorers, the International EMMY-nominated Octonauts, and join them on their mission to “explore, rescue and protect!” Here Come the Octonauts will be available for the FIRST time on DVD on January 7, 2014, from NCircle Entertainment—available at Walmart and many other retailers and grocery stores nationwide!

It’s time to meet the crew!

CAPTAIN BARNACLES BEAR

A brave polar bear extraordinaire and the leader of the Octonauts crew. He's always the first to rush in and help whenever there's a problem.

KWAZII KITTEN
A daredevil orange kitten with a mysterious pirate past. He loves excitement and travelling to exotic places.

PESO PENGUIN

PESO PENGUIN is the medic for the team. He's an expert at bandaging and always carries his medical kit with him in case of emergencies. He's not too fond of scary things, but if a creature is hurt or in danger, he can be the bravest Octonaut of all!

Together with the rest of their crew, DASHI (SAUCI) DOG, SHELLINGTON SEA OTTER, TWEAK BUNNY, PROFFESSOR INKLING OCTOPUS and TURNIP THE VEGIMAL, the Octonauts explore the world's oceans, rescue the creatures who live there, and protect their habitats - above and below the waves!

In Here Come the Octonauts, Captain Barnacles must figure out how to free an old friend who is trapped beneath the ice; Kwazii tries to rescue a reef full of creatures before an undersea storm strikes; and Peso must help a school of frightened fish who have invaded the Octopod!

Based on the books of the same name by Vicki Wong and Michael Murphy, who write under the name Meomi, Octonauts is broadcast weekday mornings on Disney Channel’s Disney Junior block. The Octonauts received a BAFTA nomination for Best Animated Preschool Show in 2011 and 2013; and in October 2012 was nominated for an International EMMY Award.

And watch out in 2014 for some great new Octonauts events—the Octonauts have recently partnered with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to work jointly to raise awareness of ocean exploration and science and advance NOAA’s mission!  The partnership, which extends learning beyond the screen, includes plans for events at aquariums nationwide and joint development of educational materials!

And now for some fun and FREE Octonauts activities to enjoy with your child!

My Thoughts:

My girls are huge fans of the Octonauts, which airs daily on Disney Junior.  And, when they are not watching this fun animated series on television, they are playing with the Octonauts toys we got Bella for her birthday, as well as their new Octonauts toys Santa brought them. :-)

This new DVD features 6 action packed adventures including the following episodes, which have already aired on television:

  • Sea Snacks
  • Adelie Penguins
  • Colossal Squid
  • Walrus Chief
  • Electric Torpedo Ray
  • Crab & Urchin
In addition to the above 6 episodes, this DVD also includes 6 Creature Reports, which will help teach your children more about marine life.

What first drew my girls to this show was seeing Peso Penguin, as they LOVE penguins.  It doesn't matter the show -- if it contains a penguin, they will sit and watch it.  And, once the girls started watching Octonauts last year, they got hooked, like so many other toddlers and preschoolers.  As a parent, I love watching shows with the girls that are not only entertaining, but also educational.  This animated series does a great job at teaching little ones about marine life, as well as teaching life lessons like teamwork, working together, perseverance and protecting the environment.

Out of the six fun filled episodes that make up this new DVD, the girls have seen the "Adelie Penguins" episodes countless times.  The DVD itself is only 70 minutes in length, in which each of the episodes are around 10 minutes in length.  This short length makes it great for the little ones, as it keeps them engaged, without boring them with a long running episode.  We have this series recorded, in case the girls miss an episode, or want to watch it again (which they do quite often).  So, when they saw this DVD, you can only imagine how excited they were to watch the 6 episodes.  With the snow and extremely cold temperatures this past weekend, this DVD sure did come in handy to keep the girls entertained, as they looked out the window at the snow falling.

If you have Octonauts fans in your house, this is one DVD you will want to pick up for them to enjoy. So, make a point to pre-order, or pick up in stores when it becomes available tomorrow, Jan. 7th.
