Kids Will Love Showing Off Their Drawings with the Crayola Dome Light Designer (Review)

Disclosure:  I was sent a sample from the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  The views shared are mine and mine alone.

Another fun toy we were able to try out, thanks to the kind folks at Crayola for sending along, was the Crayola Dome LIght Designer.  The 360 degree plastic dome, when locked into the base can be doodled on with Crayola Gel Fx Markers, before the real fun begins with the light show. :-)

The first thing Savannah said when I was setting up the Dome Light Designer was that it looked like a rocket ship.  She didn't know what to expect, but was eager for me to place the batteries in and show her how it worked.  The reusable drawing surfaces, both inside and out of the dome, as well a the Inner Flat Panel, can easily be wiped off with a wet wipe or wet paper towel, then wiped dry, so kids can play with the toy over and over again.  As a parent, I love not having to continually buy accessories of coloring sheets for toys to be played with.

You can either have the lights on when drawing on the dome, or wait until your masterpiece is done to light it up.  And, when it comes time for the light show, there are over 30 different combo light sequences, including flash, pulse and chase, to name a few.

For even more color fun, you may want to pick up an additional pack of gel markers from Crayola, as the Crayola Dome Light Designer only comes with four markers to use -- pink, blue, purple and orange.  There are two more openings on the base to store two additional favorite markers to use during playtime. :-)

In addition to freehand drawing, you can also head on over to Crayola.com for fun design ideas and tracing sheets.  I found letting the girls use one of their many coloring books to trace made for a fun afternoon of Crayola Dome Light Designer fun.

Overall, I have to say that this is a great toy for children ages 6+, while my daughter, who is 3 yrs. was able to do it with supervision.  The cool light effect will excite kids, and make them want to get creative and draw everything from cars, to rocket ships and more.  Whatever they can imagine, they will have fun drawing on the dome and inner flat panel.  And, this is one toy that they will continue to pull off the shelf to play with, time and time again.
