FREE Parents Magazine ‘Tip Booklet’ -- Offering Up Recipes that Will Surely Become Holiday Favorites #Sponsored

This is my favorite time of year, as I find myself spending more time in the kitchen baking up sweet treats, as well as trying out new recipes to include on my Thanksgiving and Christmas Day dinner menus.  And, now that the girls are getting older, they join me in the kitchen, either helping to add ingredients, "stir, stir, stir", or their favorite...act as taste testers or batter bowl lickers. :-)  When it comes to new recipes to try out, or find inspiration to revamp family favorites, I either turn to my collection of cookbooks, or to my favorite magazines.  It is funny how having children changed not only my perspective on life, as well as my priorities, but I went from subscription to fashion and celebrity gossip magazines to parenting magazines.  One of my favorites is Parents magazine, as they share articles for parents with children of all ages.  In addition to their great parenting stories and tips, I love their recipe section, as they oftentimes have picky eaters in mind when they share recipes.  And, unlike other magazines, the recipes included in each issue of Parents magazine are ones that I would actually try making, and have, especially on busy nights when I forgot to take something out for dinner and need to look in the pantry or send my husband to the market to pick up a few items to make a quick and easy, yet oh so tasty home cooked meal, the whole family (including our picky eater, Savannah) will enjoy, with leftovers for the next day.

And, with the holidays fast approaching, the folks at Parents magazine have come out with a great Tip Booklet, which is available from the Parents Magazine website --

This booklet includes smart grocery shopping tips, along with an assortment of holiday recipes from Parents magazine, including appetizers, side dishes, and desserts.  In addition to the wonderful selection of recipes, there is also a sweepstakes going on now, where you have a chance to win a $500 gift card.  Details on this sweepstakes are found on the back cover of the tip booklet.  Or, you can click here to learn more, or enter now:

What a way to get into the holiday spirit...this past Saturday, we took the girls on the Polar Express train, and then came home and made the pumpkin streusel tart, one of the recipes included in the Parents magazine Tip Booklet.

And, then, because it was raining out all day on Sunday, the girls and I spent the better part of the day in the kitchen trying out other recipes I found in this booklet, hoping to find a few new appetizers and desserts to serve up to family and friends who will be visiting in a couple of weeks for Thanksgiving. One of of new favorite recipes to make together is the Snowy Sandwiches, as shown in this quick "How To" video below:

I love seeing my girls get excited about baking and cooking.  And, they are always so proud of themselves, as they help me plate or serve what they helped me make to their Daddy, who is our quality control person.  :-)  My husband, on the other hand, likes to watch his, he is eagerly awaiting the holidays, as others will help him eat all the goodies we whip up in the kitchen. :-)  In the meantime, he is enjoying our creations, while adding an extra run or two into his workout schedule each week.

Do you love the holidays, and trying out new recipes to serve guests, or to bring to a family dinner or holiday gathering?  If you are like me, and like to find inspiration or new recipes to try, you will want to check out the Tip Booklet from Parents magazine.  I can't wait to try the "Golden Roasted Turkey with Pan Gravy," that is found in this tip booklet.  Unlike how I usually prepare my turkey, this recipe calls for 3 Tbsp. of honey, which you combine with butter, herbs, salt and pepper, and brush all over the bird. A fan of honey, I can only imagine how tasty it will make the turkey, and the rich golden color it will leave the skin.  Mmm, I am getting hungry just thinking about it.  Thanksgiving..hurry up and get here, so that I can try out this recipe. :-)  In the meantime, I plan to try out some of the kid and adult-friendly versions of festive drinks this week, as well as a few more side dishes from this booklet, including the "cider-roasted carrots and parsnips" recipe with my roasted chicken dinner tomorrow night..  I have been sharing photos with those attending my Thanksgiving dinner, as a teaser of what to expect as part of the meal.  Guests keep responding back telling me that I am cruel, as I am getting them hungry just looking at the mouth-watering treats and dishes I have been preparing. :-)  Sorry, but with such an amazing assortment of kid-friendly recipes that are found in this tip booklet from Parents magazine, I can't help but want to try them all. :-)
