Two New Mercer Mayer Little Critter Books from Thomas Nelson -- Review and #Giveaway

Since 1975, Mercer Mayer has been writing and illustrating stories about a little ball of fur named Little Critter and the antics he stumbles into while growing up. Thomas Nelson is thrilled to bring this beloved brand to the Christian market with the launch of Inspired Kids, a new line of faith-based books featuring Little Critter.

The first two books to be released in this 4-book series include "You Go First" and " It's True," both of which released earlier this month.  I had the opportunity as a Tommy Mommy to preview these new books with my girls.  Growing up, my brothers and I used to love having Mercer Mayer's Little Critter books read to us at bedtime. And, when we started to learn how to create, these were one of the first beginner reader books we would pick up and enjoy reading.  So, you can only imagine how excited I was to hear that Thomas Nelson had inked a deal to publisher books by one of my beloved children's authors.  If you follow my blog, then you have probably read reviews of other Mercer Mayer books, as well as apps that are available for children to play based on the Little Critter series.  Unlike the Little Critter books I have reviewed in the past, these new books, which are apart of the new Inspired Kids, a new line of faith-based books from Thomas Nelson, have a faith-based message, to help guide young readers (and listeners), while teaching them life lessons like sharing, putting others first, always telling the truth and always treating others with kindness.

Here is more about the first two books by Mercer Mayer, both of which my girls and I have been enjoying reading.  I am especially loving the first book, "You Go First," as my two girls are going through the terrible 2's and 3's and don't like to share or take turns.  After reading this book, I like to talk to them about the underlying message in the story and how the girls can apply it to their life, by letting each other have a turn, not always calling "first" and just being courteous to each other and others around them.
