I can't remember how many times I have shared through blog posts or comments on my social media pages, how much I love Healthgrades.com.  Ever since being diagnosed with cancer in 2008, I have become more pro-active in my own, and now my family's care.  I turn to Healthgrades to find doctors, dentists and even hospitals in my area, that accept our health insurance and provides the services and treatment options, when a need arises.  Recently, I shared how Savannah and Arabella were playing and Bella threw a toy at Savannah's head, causing a laceration that needed to be glued shut.  We were away on vacation at the time, and I had no idea where the nearest hospital or urgent care center was.  It was 9PM at night, and I needed to find a doctor or hospital quick.  This gave me the opportunity to use the new Healthgrades app, and I have to say that while I was stressing out over my daughter's injury, I was relieved on the medical side, as I was able to locate a local hospital that was within our network of coverage, and saw that it received positive reviews from other consumers.  And, for once in I don't know how long, we didn't have to spend an entire night in the ER.  Three hours later, Savannah's head was glued shut, and we were back in the hotel room, settling in for the night.  If that wasn't enough, for the next few days the doctor on call and even a nurse called our house to check on Savannah and offer reassurance that the glue would hold and that there would be a minimal scar.  You better believe I logged in after arriving home to leave positive feedback for the doctor and hospital on the Healthgrades website.  Without honest reviews like mine and those I have read over the years, when it comes to making a decision on which doctor to seek treatment with, we would be on our own.  Thanks to Healthgrades, and now the Healthgrades app, I feel more in charge of my family's health and medical care, and can make the right decisions when it comes to proper care for different ailments or medical situations, especially on the go or when away from home.  In addition to finding doctors for your family, the new Healthgrades app lets you set appointment reminders, store information on specific physicians for each member of your member, as well as give you space to write personal notes.  This personalization for each family member is by far my favorite feature of the new app.
