Disclosure: I have been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free.

"October is Energy Awareness Month and it’s a great time to upgrade to a new energy-efficient appliance, television or computer to save money on your home energy bills."

You know the saying, "When it rains, it pores."  Well, it has been doing a lot of that around here lately.  From my car going last month, to the girls and I being sick, to now us recently having have to run around replace our refrigerator, which decided to break without warning.  Hopefully, with the start of a new month, our luck will change for the better.  Like they say, it happens it 3's, and we had our 3 in a row.

Have you had to shop for appliances lately?  Boy, I thought the car hunting was a pain.  But, factor in having to find the correct size refrigerator to fit into the kitchen space, and you have added stress.  While we knew the refrigerator was old, as it came with the house, we had no idea that didn't make many of our size.  So, the hunt to find one and have it delivered within a few days time make for a near impossible find.  We first started off by looking at local mom and pop appliance shops, thinking that they would have refrigerators in stock and could deliver the same day.  Some did, while others you had to order from a catalog and wait 5-7 business days.  But, each and every store we went to didn't have our size refrigerator. And, there was no way we were going to redo or take down cabinets to make a new refrigerator fit.  Oh, and did I mention we took the girls on our refrigerator hunt.  That was an added treat in and of itself, as Arabella was tired and cranky, and Savannah was more into pushing every single button or opening all the doors of appliances that she could.  So, while we attempted to talk with sales associates, we also had to spend our time making a mad dash around the store to gather up the girls.  By the time we got home from 6 stores, with no purchase receipt for a refrigerator, we were spent.

Then, I took to the Internet to see what stores in the area sold refrigerators, and carried the size we needed.  I was surprised to Best Buy popping up at the top my search list.  I always penned them for electronics, and not appliances.  But, hey I was desperate and in need of a refrigerator fast, so I clicked on the link.

Did you know that  Best Buy has more than 2,300 unique
ENERGY STAR certified products available in Best Buy stores and online at http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Global-Promotions/ENERGY-STAR/pcmcat149900050024.c?id=pcmcat149900050024&ref=184&loc=01.  I had no idea, but am glad that I took a look at their website, as I found a refrigerator that was just the right size and had the features we were looking for. Besides the price being just right, I loved that our new refrigerator, which was delivered 3 days later, was an ENERGY STAR certified product.  Our previous refrigerator was not, and we could tell each month when we paid the electricity bill.  Did you know that "the average home’s annual energy bill is $2,200 and energy efficient products can save you money."  Crazy, huh?   Check out how much you can save with a new appliance by visiting http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Global-Promotions/ENERGY-STAR/pcmcat149900050024.c?id=pcmcat149900050024&ref=184&loc=01.  I can't wait until we receive our electricity bill next month and see the savings.  It is always nice to be able to see a savings, and stash the extra money you would have paid, to use for a rainy day, or to replace a appliance that is on the fritz.

And, because October is Energy Awareness Month, I also wanted to share that "beyond savings from simply having energy efficient products, local utility companies provide additional rebates that can save you up to $300.  To find rebates available in your area, check out the Best Buy online rebate finder here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Appliances-Promotions/Appliances-Eco-Rebate-Finder-Tool/pcmcat239700050034.c?id=pcmcat239700050034&ref=184&loc=01.

Hopefully you will find  ENERGY STAR Rebates in your area that will help you save.  And, when it comes time to replace your appliances, make sure you look for ENERGY STAR APPLIANCES, and consider making Best Buy your first time.  If only we had started our search at Best Buy, we would have saved ourselves time, money and the headaches of trying to shop with two toddlers.
