Have You Heard About the NEW Luvs Super Absorbent Disposable Diapers Yet? #TheClueIsInTheBlue

The secret is out! Luvs has created a new super absorbent diaper that is available exclusively at Walmart. It's 15% more absorbent than other Luvs, making leaks and accidents less likely.

I know I have shared a couple of posts about trying to potty train Savannah. But, unfortunately, she is still in diapers, along with Arabella.   For a while there, Savannah was so eager to start wearing big girl panties and use her Elmo potty.  But, when she saw the attention or extra time Arabella would receive when it came to changing her diaper, she wanted to be included.  So, Savannah gave up on the whole potty training idea.  After talking with family, friends and the pediatrician, they all agreed that Savannah will come around and on her own time, she will want to tackle potty training again.  I am hoping that once Arabella is a little older (as she is only 22 months), that I will be able to potty train them both at the same time.  In the meantime, we are back to buying 2-3 boxes of diapers a month -- which, if you buy diapers is expensive.  I thought we were spending a lot of money on formula.  With the girls having sensitive skin and the need for chlorine-free diapers, I am spending $50-$60 for each box of diapers.  And, on those occasions when the girls get a stomach bug, I can easily go through 4 boxes in a given month.  I can't wait until they are potty trained, and we can save on buying diapers.

In addition to the girls needing chlorine-free diapers, I have found that the diapers I use on them also have to be very absorbent.  If they sit too long in a wet diaper without telling me they need to be changed, then when the time comes to change them, they have a diaper rash.  And, you know that a diaper rash = a cranky child.  Not fun at all.  Over the past 3 years, I have tried out almost all the diaper brands on the market.  Who knew there were so many, and each having an assortment of diaper options from daytime to nighttime use, as well as swimming and active crawlers.  Through trial and error, I finally found a diaper that worked for my girls, and have stuck with them.  But, recently I have found the absorbency to not be that good, especially at night time.  I wish I could tell you that we are all sleeping through the night, but still at 3 yrs. old and 22 months, both girls get up at least one time in the night for either a bottle or diaper change.  We finally broke Savannah of her wee hours of the morning need for a bottle of milk.  Instead, she has a sippy cup next to her bed with water, and can get a drink if she needs to.  And, on those nights the girls fight us to go to bed, they drink extra water or milk, to lull them to sleep, which means that shortly thereafter they will need a diaper change, as the diapers they wear currently will not hold up through the night.  I can't tell you how many times we have forgotten to change the girls after waiting a short time after they finally fall asleep.  But, on these occasions, the girls quickly remind us, by having an accident, and needing to have their diaper, outfit and bedding changed, all in the cloak of darkness.  These are never fun times, especially because they leave both parent and child grouchy from lack of sleep come the AM.

So, when the folks at SheSpeaks contacted me last night and asked if I wanted to try out a new super absorbent diaper from Luvs, I was a little hesitant.  Even though I was not completely satisfied with my current diaper's absorbency, I wondered how well these new diapers from Luvs would be, and if they would cause my girls' sensitive skin to break out from not being used to the diapers.  But, after almost a week worth of nighttime accidents due to lack of absorbency, I needed to find a diaper that worked, and fast!  Within days of accepting the challenge to try out the new Luvs Super Absorbent Leakguard diapers, I received a box in mail.  Included with the informational kit was a package of size 5 diapers for the girls to try out.  What first caught my attention was how the package said that they were 15% more absorbent that other Luvs diapers.  I knew I would be putting this claim to the test at bedtime and nap time with the girls.

"Keep baby comfy and dry with Luvs Diapers. They have an ultra absorbent (blue) core to keep moisture locked inside and away from baby's delicate skin. Stretch sides ensure optimum fit and comfort, while the leg barrier leg gathers prevent leaks from spilling out the sides. These disposable diapers offer "heavy-dooty" protection. This disposable diapers super pack comes with 92 to 124 diapers, depending on the size you choose."

Features of the NEW Luvs Super Absorbent Disposable Diapers:

  • Ultra-absorbent leakguard core to helps lock wetness away
  • Refastenable stretch tabs for a snug fit
  • Leak barrier leg gathers help trap leaks
  • Available sizes: Size 3 (124 count) for 16-28 lbs., Size 4 (108 count) for 22-37 lbs., Size 5 (92 count) for over 27 lbs., Size 6 (76 count) for over 35 lbs.

Over the course of a few days, I used these new diapers with the girls.  Not only did they not have a reaction to the new diapers, but I found the absorbency to be amazing.  For the first time in a long time, I was finally sleeping through the night, as were the girls.  And, on the few occasions that they drank too much milk or water at bedtime or through the night, these diapers with their new super absorbency prevent accidents or leaks.   When it came time to change their diapers in the AM, if they had gone potty in the night, their skin was not irritated, like it would have been, if I had them in the old diapers I used.  Wet diapers that would sit against the girls' skin for prolonged period of time would always cause a serious diaper rash, that would takes almost a whole week and strong medicated diaper cream to treat.  But, thanks to the extra absorbency and leakguard protection, these new diapers from Luvs, have become my saving grace.  Not only am I loving how well they work at keeping her girls dry, but they also love how they feel.  They are not too tight and move with them, which is a huge plus, when it comes to active toddlers.
