My Thoughts:

Have you given or received a fruit shaped arrangment for a special occasion?  If you have, then you probably know that they can get pricey, depending on the size of the arrangement.  Ever wonder about making something similar at home for a special occasion, just for fun, or to surprise a friend or loved one with?  Well, thanks to the Pop Chef you can create amazing edible creations at home.  In no time you will be turning ordinary fruit into decorative edible flowers, starts, hearts and even butterflies, with the Pop Chef kit.

Just the other day, I received the Pop Chef in the mail to review.  Excited to try it out, I sent my husband to the market that night to pick me up different melons.  He returned with a watermelon, canteloupe and honeydew melon.  I couldn't wait for the next day to come, as I promised the girls that we would be making an edible craft.  While they were excited just by looking at the photos in the instructional booklet and back of the box, I think I was more excited.  Just thinking of the possibilities in using the Pop Chef, from creating edible fruit arrangements, to turning the girls' favorite sandwiches into fun shapes.  Like I have shared in the past, our oldest, Savannah, is a picky eater.  But, I am finding if food is served up in fun shapes or colors, that she will at least give it a try.  Not a big fan of fruit, besides bananas, I couldn't wait to see if she would sample the different melons the next day.

The Pop Chef is easy to use, and in under 20 minutes, we had created fun edible flowers and fun shaped fruit skewers, to enjoy with our lunch.  I was hoping to try my hand at creating a fruit flower arrangement in a vase, but the girls and I couldn't stop eating the fruit...yes, even Savannah was snacking on them! :-)  We managed to save a few fruit shaped flowers to show Daddy when he came home from work.  Having received edible creations as gifts before, he knew how they looked.  He said the flowers we made were better than what he remembered, and he loved how we could choose which fruits to use, and how I was able to get the girls excited not only about this craft, but about eating fruit.

Use bamboo skewers to CREATE your masterpiece!

I can't wait to try out other fun recipes that are shared in the Pop Chef recipe guide, as well as creating a fun festive fruit arrangement for the dessert table this Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Oh the ideas on what I can create are circling through my head.  And, at only $10.99 for the Pop Chef kit, this is an affordable alternative to spending $$$ on other edible creations.   Kids will have a blast helping you out in the kitchen, creating fun shapes and flowers.  And, you will not have to worry about them hurting themselves with the Pop Chef set, so even little ones will enjoy helping out -- just like my girls did.
