Barbie Mariposa & the Fairy Princess Arriving in Stores on DVD and Blu-ray Combo Pack Tomorrow (Review of the Dolls Inspired by the Movie)

Disclosure:  I was sent samples from the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  The views shared are mine and mine alone.

What a start to the week.  Last night the girls had piped up energy and didn't want to go to bed.  And, by 9PM, they were still running around the living room.  Hoping to have then burn off all their excess energy, my husband and I watched as they slowing made it by us and into the kitchen.  But, by the time Savannah made the corner of the kitchen aisle, Arabella had thrown a bubble gun she managed to pull off the kitchen counter, directly at Savannah's head.  we then heard the crying as Savannah ran over to us, with a laceration to her forehead.  Unable to stop the bleeding, I ended up taking her up to the ER for either glue or stitches.  After almost 3 1/2 hours in the ER, they gave me the option of glue or stitches.  Not wanting to see Savannah go through any more pain with needles, I opted for the glue.  They pushed the skin together, added glue and put a bandage on her head, to prevent her from scratching it or getting it dirty.  Then, they sent us on our way, with orders to rest for the next 24-48 hrs.  I ended up staying up the rest of the AM to make sure she didn't have a concussion.  Dreading the rest of the day, as I knew I would be tired from the night before and being up throughout the early AM hours with Savannah, I was happy to see my parents come to help me out.

Having instructions from the doctors to have Savannah keep it easy, I wondered how this would work, as she likes to be up and about, and playing with her sister.  When she finally woke up, she felt fine and wanted to go about playing as usual.  But, my parents and I tried our hardest to find activities that would not require her to run around, get overworked, or chance bumping or hitting her head.  Thankfully, when the mail arrived in the AM, I found the Barbie Mariposa and Barbie Catania dolls inspired by the upcoming Barbie Mariposa & the Fairy Princess movie waiting for me.  These dolls couldn't have come at a better time.  Not only was the new Barbie Mariposa & the Fairy Princess movie arriving in stores on August 27th on Blu-ray combo pack and DVD, but these Barbie dolls were just what I needed to keep Savannah entertained, while taking it easy.

When I showed Savannah the two Mariposa and the Princess Barbie dolls, her eyes lit up.  Like her mom, she loves her Barbies, and couldn't wait to add another one to her growing collection.  She ended up choosing the Mariposa Barbie doll to play with, while Arabella had fun with the Catania doll.

These Barbie dolls arrived on store shelves back in July, in anticipation on the new "Barbie Mariposa an the Fairy Princess movie release to DVD.  Here is more about both the Barbie Mariposa and Catania doll, and upcoming movie release:

Princess Mariposa

"The all new DVD Barbie Mariposa and the Fairy Princess brings back the beloved fairy in a new role, as an ambassador to a faraway fairy kingdom, where she meets and befriends the local fairy princess. This doll captures Mariposa's struggles with decorum along with her fantastical fairy look. Girls will love playing out quintessential moments from the movie. "

Mariposa rushes to her friend’s side to help save the fairy land and together they prove the best way to make a friend is to be a friend. In addition to the two new Barbie dolls, Mattel also debuted the Barbie Mariposa and the Fairy Princess Castle Playset, which retails in stores for around $49.99, and is geared towards children ages 3 and up.

While I don't have this castle yet, I am hoping Santa is listening, as Savannah is already asking for it.  When I showed her the stock images of this playset, she thought the floating staircase and transforming vanity mirror were cool.  And, she couldn't wait to see it up close. :-)

The girls have had a blast helping me review the two Barbie Mariposa and the Princess dolls, and are eagerly awaiting the release of Barbie Mariposa & the Fairy Princess, which is set to arrive on DVD and Blu-ray Combo pack on August 27th.  I previously pre-ordered the DVD from Amazon, and am waiting for it to arrive on Tuesday.  And, like the dolls, this movie will be a great distraction for Savannah, as she heals from her head boo-boo.

If you have a Barbie fan in your house, who can't get enough of the new full-length Barbie films like my girls, then you will want to to pick up the new Barbie Mariposa & the Fairy Princess DVD or Blu-ray Combo pack when it arrives in stores tomorrow.  A special added treat would be to surprise your child/grandchild with either the new Mariposa or Catania Barbie doll from Mattel. With a push of a button, your child can transform these dolls into fairy princesses, and then back again, as they enjoy hours of playtime with these new toys inspired by the latest film, Barbie Mariposa & the Fairy Princess.
