My Thoughts:

Do you love crafts?  How about monthly subscription programs?  If you answered "Yes" to both of these questions, then you will love the monthly craft box from Whimseybox.  I stumbled across Whimseybox last month while looking for fun DIY craft projects to do at home by myself, or when I have Girls Night In.  Growing up, I was turned onto crafting by my mom.  While she tried teaching me to knit and crochet, she did instill a love of being creative with a glue gun and craft supplies.  I remember one Christmas asking for my own crafting box, which Santa (Thanks, Mom!) left under the tree filled with an abundance of crafting tools and accessories.  I was set for months when it came to DIY crafts.  And, as I got older, my love for crafting grew.  In college, I would have girls in my apartment and close friends over for a fun pizza and craft night.  Either we would work on a group craft project, or each girl would bring a craft or DIY project they were working on, to share with the group.  I have some great memories of college from these wonderful craft nights.  For me, crafting is not only fun, but it is a great stress reliever.  There is something about being able to turn an empty canvas, blank sheet of paper, empty box, etc., into something unique and amazing, just by embellishing it.  While I never got into knitting, crocheting or sewing, I do love scrapbooking, creating centerpieces and floral arrangements and step by step craft projects, like the ones available from Whimseybox.

I was excited to receive a response from the folks at Whimseybox, after reaching out to them and inquiring about a review and giveaway opportunity.  Not only did I know that I would love to try out their craft boxes, but I knew my readers would love to learn more about, as well as have a chance to win one (scroll down to learn more about this fun giveaway and to enter).  Within a matter of days, I was sent their DIY Peppermint Lip Balm craft box.  Upon taking out of the shipping box, I was impressed with the beautiful packaging of the crafting supplies.

Tucked neatly inside tissue paper and a ribbon, I was sent everything I would need to complete this DIY Peppermint Lip Balm craft project.  Besides the fun I had making my own lip balm, I have to say that my favorite part about the whole Whimseybox experience was how I was sent everything I would need to complete the DIY project.  I didn't have to worry about needing to look in my craft stash for supplies, or take a trek out to the craft store to buy supplies.  If this was the case, I don't think I would have completed the project, as I don’t have the luxury to run to a store whenever I want, with the little ones at home.

Last weekend, after a crazy week with the girls, car trouble and home improvement work gone bad from hired contractors, I was looking for a way to unwind.  So, I took the Whimseybox out and began reading the step-by-step instructions on making the DIY peppermint lip balm.  Surprisingly, out of all my years of crafting, I have never made my own lip balm.  Have you?  I couldn't believe how easy it was!  And, after completing this DIY project from Whimseybox, I will definitely be picking up more supplies to make more lip balms for myself, and to give to family and friends for the holidays.  I am thinking about a lavender lip balm to try next. :-)

Like I said, you receive everything you need to complete each at home DIY craft project from the folks at Whimseybox:

In my DIY Peppermint Lip Balm craft box, I received enough crafting supplies to fill three lip balm tins, as well as have enough beeswax peppermint essential oil and Castor oil, to make another 3 tin batch.  At $20 for this kit, you can't go wrong.  The convenience of having all the supplies you need at hand, including the tins and stirring sticks to stir the lip balm mixture, it is well worth it.  The craft itself took me less than a half hour to do.  This worked out great, as I was able to sit at the dining room table, sip a glass of wine, and complete the DIY project before the girls woke for a bottle or diaper change.  And, when they did wake, I wanted stressed out, as this easy to do lip balm craft was a great way to unwind and relieve stress for me.

I am so happy to have had the opportunity to try out one of the craft boxes from Whimseybox, and will definitely be picking up more from their online shop.  After browsing their current selection of DIY craft boxes, I am interested in picking up the following to do ---

So, if want to receive fun DIY craft boxes delivered right to your door each month, or are looking for a fun, unique gift to give that hard to shop for person in your life, or one who loves crafting as much as you do, why not consider checking out the current DIY craft boxes from Whimseybox, or give a monthly subscription box today?  Whimseybox is truly a great idea for crafters and wanna be crafters, looking to get more creative at home.  Having never tried making lip balm at home, if it wasn't for the DIY craft box I was sent from Whimseybox, I would never have learned how easy and fun it was to do.  And, I can't wait to see what other fun craft projects and crafting tools I will be sent in future Whimseybox shipments.

And, don't forget to follow the Whimseybox blog, to see what other fun crafting projects other Whimseyboxers are working on.  This is a great way to get inspiration for a new craft box you have been meaning to start! :-)
